Probably because of the Dophinarium but these were a common feature on many 1970’s sussex mantle pieces

Inherited one of these when my Mum passed away. Poole pottery, I remember my Mum buying it. I actually like a lot of mid century furniture and ornaments and have quite a few items in the home.

When they decided steering wheels should be square :lolol:

It was Mrs.Punal’s first car after she passed her driving test in1984. It was brown - appropriately, as the car was shit. The square steering wheel was matched by the four wheels which were also square. The road safety ad at the time was for using your seat belt - “Clunk. Click. Every trip!”, or in her case, when driving the All-aggro, Clunk, click, clunk, clunk, clunk.

The one saving grace about this monstrosity was that I could be driven to and from the pub safe in the knowledge that with her nibs driving (at last!) I didn’t have to limit my alcohol intake. Such small mercies. :drink:

Sussex, by the sea
Its incredible isn't it, and yes, it reminds me of a few Shoreham beach houses.

its just south of Blackpool, its a huge house . . . be double the price or more anywhere near here.

I just hope it gets used for a TV production or something before it all gets trashed, it really is something horribly special!

Not so much an ornament but how iconic is this?

That dress was sold at auction a few years ago (by the owner, a friend of the (then) girl in the photo who had lent it to her for the shoot). Estimate: £2k. Went for £15k. Buyer: All England club. It's now in the Wimbledon Museum.

The racket was also sold at the same time by the same seller. £2k??
