Of course season tickets are a luxury. But most football clubs accept that younger people have far lower incomes and need an incentive to buy season tickets. The whole reason for offering 18-21 season tickets is to retain STH once they reach 18. This makes sense because then they are much more...
I definitely think it is reasonable for the club to increase prices proportionately between price bands. For one group of supporters to face 300% price rises seems unfair. The 18-21 age group have discounts because they generally have very low incomes (students/unemployed/low salaries) and the...
1. If the club is so worried about fraud, it shouldn't offer any discounted tickets.
2. Of course it is subjective as to what is a fair price - I think the arguments for the pricing policy being unfair are stronger than those for it being fair but that's just my opinion.
3. Again, the...
Obviously everyone has to decide whether they can afford it but there is an issue as to whether it is a "fair and justifiable" price rise. It seems that the main argument for it is that the club have chosen this pricing structure. I believe it is unfair on the small group of season ticket...
Would you say the same if your season ticket price had gone up by 300%? If you disagree with a 18-21 ticket price, you can make your argument but you're basically just writing the whole issue off because it doesn't affect you. The price rise is unfair and short-sighted. To simply say "that's the...
You asked for an exact price and I don't have the time to do a full analysis of pricing. But, if we compare the U16 price in South Stand Centre at the Withdean to the U18 price in Zone A, the increase is £118 to £197.50 (67%) ... an U21 ticket would be £240. That is still a reasonable price rise.
Adult ticket in South Stand centre (2010/2011) = 425
U21 ticket in South Stand centre (2010/2011) = 144
Adult ticket for Zone A at Falmer = 395
U21 ticket for Zone A at Falmer should be 139
That's applying the same proportion.
That's illogical. How does the unfairness of one price rise mitigate other unfair price rises? And it doesn't deal with the fact that it is only the 18-21 price bracket that has had these massive price increases.
It's unreasonable to raise ticket prices for a group of fans by 300%. A reasonable ticket pricing policy would have the u-21 prices vary in direct proportion to all other ticketing groups.
But you had the option of paying less money and still being a STH. The 18-21 age group aren't being given that choice - an increase of 300% on season ticket prices is a massive rise and we either have to pay it or stop going to games. I understand that everyone has the choice of what they spend...
But this is such a short-term way to price tickets. In the short-term, we will probably fill the Amex but in the medium and long term we need all the fans we can get. Fans who are 18-21 will, in a few year's time, be able to afford a full adult season ticket. If we alienate this age group, we're...
I see your point about 18-21 having fewer obligations but it's been suggested in a lot of places that this has been the age group that's been hardest hit by the recession. At 18, students will now be paying up to £9000 in tuition fees. For non-students, there is record unemployment. We have a...
18-21 year olds with jobs still earn a far lower income than those who are only 5-10 years older. As a student, if the club were to introduce a student ticket, I would be able to afford a season ticket at the Amex. But you have to think about the situations of others. This age group has record...
I go to uni in London and come back for about two thirds of home games. With a Young Persons Railcard, you can book a train from Clapham Junction to Brighton usually for about £5 if you do it in advance. We shouldn't just assume that all students go to far-off universities. A lot of people do...
The unemployed should get discounts too, but practically that would be impossible for the ticket office to do. And just because the unemployed don't get discounts, that does not mean that other groups should not get discounts either. That's illogical.
If you argue that those who can't afford a ticket shouldn't buy a ticket, then you should also be arguing against under 18 and over 60 tickets too. In fact, any discounted tickets, for anything.
The whole point of the discounts is to reduce the price for those with lower incomes. The separate...
In my post I wasn't directly referring to students who aren't Brighton fans but those who are Brighton fans between 18 and 21 for whom adult ticket prices are very expensive.
Without an under-21 season ticket, fans who go to uni at 18 are suddenly (unless their parents pay) priced out of the...
The club seem to be trying to freeze out any supporters between the ages of 18 and 21.
First, the club fail to include an under-21 season ticket at the Amex, meaning that my season ticket price will rise from about £124 to at least £395. That's almost three times more expensive!
Then, the club...
I hate this rubbish that fans have a "right" to boo their team. Fans may have the right to act like complete idiots but you're still dicks for using it.
Gus Poyet is one of the best young managers in the country and he will manage at the very top one day. He has transformed this club in one...
You might have seen scratchy youtube videos of Messi or Rooney as kids but here's our very own Conor Wilkins...

I dunno if it's actually him but how many Conor Wilkins can there be who've done the crossbar challenge at the Goldstone Burger King? Looks...
