No I don't, if Starbucks closed their shops I would expect them to probably stay empty as the majority are in areas where the rent and rates price out local small businesses
Well yes I know that, I was saying that because they employed people, the have indirectly paid tax, had they not been there these people may have been unemployed thereby costing the country money rather that the other way round.

They have paid PAYE & NIC which they have deducted from the staff and VAT on the vatable supplies so its not entirely true then as if they were not on the high street neither would be incurred.

I think there are quite a few people who, given the choice between losing a leg or losing thier smartphone, would have to ask for five minutes to consider it.
I initially put "losing an arm" but of course that would slow down their typing speed.
As did I in a hotel in London as I was working up there. I was due to catch the train home to Bexhill the following lunchtime, but couldn't so I ended up spending the afternoon wandering round looking at all the damage and spent an extra night at the hotel.
I suppose its what you enjoy about football matches. Having attended England matches at both old and new, if I had the choice to re-visit a game it would be old every time. Pay on the gate, massive terraces where you could stand where and who with you wanted to, crowd generated atmosphere.
