We're lacking in players who have experience of playing in the Prem, and Tim Cahill also counts as a homegrown player. Sure Matty could put in a word to help swing it our way too*.
*This poor impression of BG is now over
It would have been one of the last as he signed for Newcastle on 27th August 2010, and Hughton was sacked that December.
Ben Arfa is an exciting player but could only imagine it happening though if there were plans for Knockaert to move on.
I think our chances of going down are definitely greater if we fail to bring another high quality player (or two) in. We need a replacement for Brown who can cover Gross's Am role. Think we could also do with another central midfielder, assuming Sidwell is out for the season.
No transfer should ever be about just throwing money at a player. Instead it should be part of a much wider transfer policy where the main focus is ultimately placed on value (what they can bring to the team + future potential fee vs total cost of the deal).
I hope that we've had a scout watched Alfred Finnbogason a few times. Been in the Bundesliga with Augsburg for the last couple of seasons. 11 goals in 16 appearances so far this season. Tall, strong, good in the air and knows where the goal is. Also wouldn't expect he'll either cost too much to...
Chicharito - wages are way above our current wage structure, but feel that type of striker would offer us something different (and an upgrade) on what we currently have.
Both Pritchard and Sakho are players that wouldn't improve on our first eleven. Full confidence in Winstanley, Hughton, Barber and Bloom to deliver the striker we need in this window.

He made sure a scout from Swansea was at yesterdays Benfica vs Sporting match, so presumably it's a Portuguese table that he wants to dine at (especially as Sheffield Wednesday also had a scout at that game).

Don't expect Hughes to last much longer at Stoke, and can see them having a bump in form once he's gone and they've got someone else in.
