[Football] 22 WSL games to be shown live on BBC TV from next season

The average NSC user really isn't the target audience. So I doubt anyone care too much about some of the antiquated opinions expressed here. More and more girls follow Brighton now. And if they get more opportunity to watch women's football, and that helps in any way to get them motivated to...

[Football] 22 WSL games to be shown live on BBC TV from next season

Good news. If it's on main TV I'll probably watch more often and if I enjoy it maybe I will start to follow the women's team more than I do now. If I don't enjoy it then I won't watch it. I manage to do that with most of the shite being broadcast these days. I mean, Love Island Australia...

[Misc] When your former heroes let you down.

This statement does rather indicate that either you have done no serious reading, or that you do not understand how science and data works. You may be mistaking: 'we can't yet be 100% sure about how far vaccines stop you catching and transmitting covid' With 'iT DeFINITeLY Don'T WOrK' Try...

[Football] Maheta Molango set to Replace Gordon Taylor at PFA

From Wikipedia: Having obtained a LL.B and B.A. Political Science from Charles III University of Madrid, he joined the employment law department of the Madrid office of Baker & McKenzie in April 2007.[23] In January 2008 he moved to the United States to study for the LL.M program in...

    The Vaccine Thread

And as an aside, 64% would still be considered a highly effective vaccine, whch you'd be an idiot not to roll your sleeve up for.

    The Vaccine Thread

I think that's unfair. I didn't, and still don't, have any problem with the route taken by Sweden. Although I am glad we didn't follow the same path. In retrospect it may turn out to have been very wrong (we still aren't at the end of this - so still too early for final judgement) They messed...

    The Vaccine Thread

The problem with your logic is that it relies on governments having meaningful medical information that is not being put into the public domain. And that would be a far bigger scandal, and reflect far worse, on those governments, than the accusation that this is just political. From the...

[News] The Coronavirus Good News thread

I just spent this morning helping to set up a new vaccination centre in Crawley - allowing for a very substantial increase in patient flow in the coming weeks. The centre I normally volunteer at is also aiming to nearly double the daily numbers soon. It's all ramping up as supplies are...

    [TV] The Mash Report Axed

To be fair, I have found Norcott to be generally likeable and funny. Unlike Manning, Davidson and Tarbuck!

    [TV] The Mash Report Axed

I am sure the usual 'cancel culture' critics on NSC will be along soon to tell us how outraged they all are. Shame anyway. I thought it was great on the whole. Often very funny and some clever satire.

    [Football] Call me old fashioned....

Yeah, I should also have counted the extra minutes I spent editing the wikipedia article to fit my argument, and then peer reviewing it myself, before quoting it.

30 seconds on google, 30 seconds cut and paste. I should probably add a proviso that I cannot guarantee my sources are fully watertight and peer reviewed though.

Well a quick google tells me for engineering graduates: Algeria 48.5% Peru 47.5% Uruguay 45.9% Syria 43.9% Tunisia 44.2% Morocco 42.2% Cuba 41.7% Also: In the EU 41% of scientists and engineers are women. But women outnumber men in those professions in Lithuania, Bulgaria, Latvia...

So you believe that this pattern of applications is because of genetic differences rather than deeply embedded social factors? In the same way men are genetically better football commentators presumably, to get the discussion back to the topic initially started by the (old fashioned) OP?

    [Football] Call me old fashioned....

Who mentioned equality of outcome? Do you actually think there is equality of opportunity now? If you do, how do you account for the patterns in outcomes? Of course everyone would be happier with more balanced lives. Once we have moved away from our insane version of free market capitalism...

Yes, (apart maybe politicians who are not paid particularly high wages in the UK for the job they are meant to do) I agree 100% Economic inequality is also a very big problem and balancing there is still going in the wrong direction.

    [Football] Call me old fashioned....

We are certainly living through a period of balancing, but given that women (and BAME) remain significantly under-represented at the top end of media, politics and most businesses, whilst also being over-represented in unpaid, insecure and low paid work...how do you reckon we are OVER-balancing...
