Didn't get to watch Seattle last night as was on a plane, but very pleased with the result, and with a team that's becoming increasingly confident and balanced. And that – most of all – continues to exceed all expectations for a 'transitional/might-only-win-5-or-6-games' season. Dare we start...

As one positive, I thought the "Do you want to buy our songs" chant to the increasingly quiet Chelsea end was an absolute cracker. "You're just a shit Brighton and Hove Albion" was quite funny too.

Football, concerts, festivals… it all felt relatively affordable and accessible as a student in the late 80s/early 90s. Not any more. Some ticket prices are now eye-wateringly high, and their availability infinitely smaller. So, yes. I'm definitely in your "it were all made of wood in my day"...

But – most of all – hard to watch. Four primetime games so far this season, and while I hugely enjoyed Seattle doing them over in W1, the last couple of Broncos games have been a shockingly bad advert for the game. Got up this morning to watch Q4 and (as it turned out) OT, and it was dreadful...

It’s also getting too late in the year to be planning significant land operations really, unless you have the equipment, clothing etc for winter warfare. Which I doubt the Russians do, seeing as their army is largely equipped with t-shirts and water pistols.

Yup, and will all those TV subscribers in China, Korea and Saudi Arabia really keep tuning in, as Real Madrid take on Barcelona for the 14th time this season… zzzz…?
