Wages, as ever, would be the issue. We'd have to match or beat what Spurs were paying, which I guess would make him our highest earner.
While he isn't the player Caicedo is, he does have the same ability to cover the ground and get out a telescopic leg to retrieve a ball it seemed impossible...
Agree with this argument. Yves effectively dropped into the defence on many occasions when Cucu or Veltman were marauding forward. I don't see Mwepu or Caicedo as that sort of player, they need to be up the pitch more.
It wouldn't amaze me if we were in for someone, maybe the Coventry lad.
Agree totally, just to add, we've also got plenty of young midfielders coming through the youth ranks
We can't replace Yves like for like, but the midfield unit still looks strong to me. My first choice midfield 3, would be Mwepu, Caicedo and MacAllister. Plenty of cover there as well...
I hope he gets a great reception when he comes back. A truly magnificent player for us over several seasons. It's hard to imagine we'd have stayed up through all those seasons if we had never signed him.
We'll have to get used to losing 1 or 2 players we'd really rather keep every summer. But...
Too right. You don't want your best players lined up against you next season. If he contributes to knocking us out of the Champions League the following season, i'll accept that
Undoubtedly we will have had a contract offer in place before the incident at the nightclub last year and given that he's still playing for us, the offer is still on the table.
Very small chance he will accept it though, as although he would probably become our highest ever earner if he...
The agent is just releasing to journo's details of the Villa bid to stoke up the interest from the big 6 and probably Newcastle.
Villa will probably bid again, but soon be out of the running once the bigger fish declare their hand.
As has been said, lots of other CM deals to be done this...
