    [Food] Traditional fish n chips

Exactly. No cod or haddock here but snapper or barramundi works well with chips, salt and Sarsons' vinegar brought here from the UK, it's easy to make a decent fish and chips.

    [Albion] 60 years ago today - 22 August 1964

I knew exactly what this thread would be about as soon as I saw the title. That's how memorable it was. I was there in the east terraces. He was remarkably skillful for such a big man.

Easy. Lawro. Before anyone pipes up with Liverpool, he was just as good for us as he was for them. No difference hence slotting straight into their already great team.

Most of my live cricket watching was in the 1960s and early 70s. Best I've seen something like this: Boycott Lawry Kanhai Dexter Harvey Sobers Knott Illingworth Trueman Underwood Holding

I was with them when a teenager - a long time ago and before other interests took over. One such interest was the proximity of The Royal Oak just up the road from their water at Wineham. The Oak won and remains one of the best country pubs I have ever been to.

    [Albion] Evan Ferguson

Genuine question: was it ever confirmed that he had glandular fever? It would explain a lot if so. All I recall were mentions of the possibility.

[Drinking] Any pub recommendations near Palmeira Square?

That swung it from Hove Place to Robin Hood, so thanks. for that. After a rather sterile pint in The Wick, we went on to Robin Hood, stayed there all evening and consumed a lot of Harvey's. We loved the local boozer atmosphere and the beer of course and will be back.

Thanks all for your quick responses. I knew I could count on you. Looks like Hove Place for starters at least. 4 minutes' walk from Palmeira Square.
