Couldn't you argue that this system still encourages teams to bring through academy talent, as without bringing them through to the first team wouldn't have any value for the "pure profit". I do think it's a shame that teams are being encouraged to sell them though
He's got my vote, not even linked at the minute but he's the only name being discussed that excites me. Given that Potter got the Chelsea job after us and RDZ may well get a job at a top European club. Any sensible young manager should see our club as an excellent opportunity.
I think he would...
I like the guy, he's a good honest player who always gives 100% no matter what role he is asked to play. I definitely needs more time to get up to speed post injury, a full pre-season would do him the world of good.
I don't follow the Bundesliga in great detail, but I found it interesting to see that he was picked ahead of Kim Min-Jae and Upamecano last night. So he must be doing something right over there. I was expecting him to be a squad player when he went, but if he was first pick for a massive game...
I have tried changing the cookie settings on chrome but I'm still having the same issue. I changed it from blocking third party cookies to "Allow third-party cookies". I don't particularly want to change it from "standard protection" to "no protection" on the security settings as it says that...
Can't help but think people should wait and see when the manifestos say before nailing their colours to any particular mast. I'm hopeful that there will be enough in the labour manifesto for me and other left leaning people to get behind and vote for. I understand some of Owen's points about...
He's clearly struggling with his form, but all strikers have patches where things don't go for them. He's very young, and looks like he needs a confidence boost at the minute. His next goal will come soon and it will do him the world of good. As others have said decent strikers are hard to come...
I didn't know you knew all of the reasons why every footballer has ever accepted a contract. What fantastic inside knowledge you have, Romano in disguise?
I think there are many examples of players accepting transfers for less wages because their club has an accepted an offer and they no longer feel wanted. I think when it's the club where they came through the academy who are in financial trouble the chances may be higher.
Obviously helping out...
I do wonder whether he would be willing to accept a pay cut to help out Barca. They reportedly need to reduce their wage bill by £200mil in the summer, so offloading his £200k per week would be a fair chunk of that. I think he's unlikely to regain a first team place in the Barca team or any...
He's done alright for England to be fair, had a very good Euro's tournament in a different system to Bielsa's. For balance, I thought he was fairly overrated when he was a Leeds, but I think he'll do alright at West Ham or another premier league club if given time to get back up to speed
I hoped they would struggle to offload players last summer though. But Saudi clubs came to their rescue and Man U and Arsenal spent silly money on Mount and Havertz. There will always be some clubs interested in their players, Broja, Gallagher, Colwill and Chalobah all have reported interest...
So we didn't sign Locadia, Ulloa or Knockaert in Jan. Or Estupinan, Joao Pedro, Veltman, Welbeck, Milner or Lallana or many others who were premier league ready. I'm pretty sure we've had many dealings with "dodgy"/awkward agents in the past too. All it really comes down to is whether we see...
Fair points, I wasn't saying that they we are a bigger club than them or a more attractive place to go. Just that we have a good track record of helping players to develop further and progress their careers. No disrespect to Napoli, they are indeed a great club, but they don't often sell their...
