In hindsight there's absolutely no way I would swap anything for trips to Ajax, Marseille, Athens and Roma. It was amazing!

Our expected final points on Sporting Index has gone up by about 8pts since the start of the season. Based on their predictions now, it wouldn't take anything outrageously unlikely for us to finish in top 6.

I heard a number of pundits claim Man Utd had one of the best transfer windows.
I also heard a lot of positives about Everton in the window as they managed to keep Branthwaite and Calvert-Lewin.
Why do clubs go into perceived crisis if they lose to little old Brighton??

Nothing’s ever going to beat the Amsterdam trip for me. Getting on a Eurostar full of Brighton, drinking in De Wallen with friends old and new.
200 die hards in some Serbian village would be an adventure but not a patch on our aways last season.

We contributed and possibly were part of the reason for these so called crisis teams so I totally agree. If Everton and/or Man Utd had beaten us would they be crisis teams then ? Kalimantan Gull We need to give Brighton more credit here.

Amsterdam, also, for me. Three of us went by car via Eurotunnel to Utrecht which is only a 15 minute train ride from Amsterdam. Among the many happy memories of that memorable day was getting back to Central station after the game. Exiting the station all you could hear were Albion fans celebrating in the Dam. Let’s go and join them I said - no, my mates replied, go for a nightcap back at the hotel. Wise words indeed, that saved me from probably having the worst hangover of my life!

I seem to recall Newcastle sacking two managers after defeats to us, and one of these managers was sacked again by another club after losing to us. Steve Bruce. Could be wrong....

Early days but the signs are good. If we can avoid our usual deep winter slump it could be our best season yet.

I saw someone else write on X that are you even a Brighton fan if your immediate thoughts aren't "We're going to get turned over by Ipswich/Forest". The joys of being a Brighton fan, you cannot predict anything.

And the bulk of the new players haven't really been used yet, still using last years squad.Three games in, two wins and one draw, seven points from nine and second in the table. Would anyone have predicted that a few weeks ago? I had misgivings about us getting anything at Everton - the Dyche syndrome would strike again. Man Utd and Arsenal, maybe a point for each game? But no, FAB and the boys have blown that pre-season pessimism out of the water. With our unbelievable transfer business completed we are now looking to be top six candidates. Whether that comes to fruition or not only time will tell. In the meantime I am enjoying the exhilarating ride - something that I would not have envisaged at the end of last season.
Opening game against Everton only Weiffer and Minteh played, and vs Arsenal and Man Utd only Minteh who was replaced by Georgino Rutter each time was used.
So only 3 of the new boys have played yet. We have more depth once up to speed.

Before we get carried away, and start predicting winning the league this season, then becoming Champions League winners next season, I still concerned about how we breakdown teams who play a low block
Once Arsenal decamped to their 18 yard line, yes we were on top, but there was a lot of moving the ball, but the Arsenal keeper wasn't making once a season saves to keep them in the game.
Breaking such teams down consistently needs to be our next step.
I am however very happy on our points total and performance so far. At the start of the season I was expecting us to be in the bottom three at this stage given who we were playing .
However I now keep looking at the table as it still feels a bit unreal. Another seven points from the next three, and I may need to start looking at all the European leagues for possible opponents next season.

For some time now i've been pretty positive going in games at home against teams below us, that said i do relapse into "We're doomed" mode if we fail to take our chances.

It’s the ultimate entitlement.
So assured of a win over ‘little ole Brighton’ a draw or even an outrageous loss points to consummate failure by the oppos manager. Sports commentators feed that narrative too.
2022/3 - Palarce sacked Patrick Vieira if I recall following them losing to us 0:1 in March that season.
Roy Hodgson‘ sacking was considered by Palarce board and demanded by the fans after our win in Feb 2023/4 - he stepped down a few weeks later.

Some good points but I think a lot of the positivity comes from the fact that we have done well in the transition period between RDZ and Hürzeler.
Most of our new manager’s tactics, new signings with new formations are yet to be seen.
I can’t wait until we see the real Hürzelerball!

This. I said on Sat that we seem to consistently get to their penalty box and never seems to come away with an effort on goal. They could easily have scored two while we were plugging away. That needs looking at sharpish as teams will certainly come and park the bus if we look lacking of ideas in the final third when against a low block, we have been here before.
Im still uneasy about Barco going on loan because it has been almost a year since Perverto Carlos was injured and he has now returned 3 times without showing an ounce of his killer pace and agility. Hopefully Ferdi is our man but then that does question what we do at RB. Veltman can do a job like on Sat.
