Yes I'm serious. What is it achieving except inciting potentially more violence and chaos when the police have a plan to deal with it. As per the Argus today, people have also been asked to refrain from counter demos to help the Police. I totally understand the feeling but It's giving them what they want, a fight and judging by those in hoods and masks, there are people there that want just as much disorder as the racists.
What it is showing is that the far right do not represent the majority, far from it. It shows the likes of Farage et al are talking bollox when they claim the 'silent majority' are on his side. What I am seeing is the counter protestors directing their anger at the morons, they aren't trying to burn anything, loot anything or assaulting the Police.

Update from Accrington, Lancashire:

My wife is on Accrington/Hyndburn facebook. There is a march of Muslims along the Blackburn Road. Local whites are coming out of the pubs and greeting them, shaking their hands etc.

Hugely moving. (Remember this is not far from Burnley).

As predicted, Queen's road blocked, few hundred antis. Apparently there's a group of right wingers the other side of the road, but can't imagine there's more than a dozen and can't actually see them because of the size of the crowd. Really can't see them starting any trouble.

Whist you are right, the far right do not represent the majority, the majority show this by not getting involved in demos that take up Police resource or increase fear of violence.

Not getting involved is a powerful statement in itself which marginalises all those that feel they have to protest on the street rather than through the ballot box or through other peaceful means.

Fair points and I understand why people want to be there. I agree with all the sentiments exactly BUT had the Far Right turned up it could have been a situation beyond that of what the police could control.
Thankfully, it seems the fascists have all crawled back under the rocks they came from and long may it continue.

Brighton factually.....
The tide is turnng
Oh please, there was never ever a tide, a few larger gatherings and opportunists yeah, the right are happy with just the publicity, and there main threats come from lone wolf like attacks.

This has run its course now, maybe a few clashes in some towns after football on Saturday, but the main threat has subsided.

Disappointed that there’s a lack of football related chants being deployed by the counter protest

“Get out of Brighton now f*** off home”

“Oh Tommy Tommy, run out of Brighton and you’ve won f*** all”

“Brighton again olay olay, Brighton again (Olay), Brighton again (Olay) Brighton again olay Olay

Cry in a minute

You know what you
“Go left go left
go left left left
go left go left go pick up your step go left go left go left”

if the counter-protesters are the only people out there... are they the protesters?

seriously though, hopefully the very large crowds turning out will make Tommy's pals will realise they've misjudged the mood badly.

The catalyst isn't Antifa though, is it?

It's Tommy urging his supporters to burn the country and messages on Telegram sharing the addresses of immigrant support centres.

Everyone could have stayed at home were it not for the events of the last nine days or so. To see so many people saying 'no' is actually quite heart warming.

Caveat 1: if any of the counter demonstrators attack police, buildings or people they ARE just as bad. But I don't expect they will (though no doubt there'll be some heavily edited, out of context shite from the fascists).

Caveat 2: law abiding businesses including ALBION KEBABS have still had to board up and lose a night's trade.

Looks like Tommy's lot are done though. Farage's speech writer must currently have the blood pressure of a 200 kg alcoholic. And THAT makes me proud to be British and proud to come from Brighton.
