TV types don't seem to do any research beyond their own opinions. I am sure there are some pundits etc who do, but the majority seem ignorant to footballers not playing in the Premier League.

Considering the salaries the BBC golf club are paid, their lack of knowledge beyond whoever is playing in the Prem at the time, is a disgrace. The commentators are less guilty - they clearly DO carry out a bit of research before matches, but the pundits are taking the piss.

This is why people like Shearer, Townsend, Hansen should be put out to pasture.

Whether or not that statement is true is actually besides the point - pundits like Shearer are PAID to find out about such players (and indeed, entire teams) for the big tournaments, not to go and play golf between matches.

His statement is patently not true. When Newcastle signed him, he'd been a top player in France for over five years and had a drawer full of France caps. My teenage boys know 100 times more about European football than Alan Shearer. He should be ashamed. Its as though he doesn't even watch any football, bar the matches he is paid to endure.

Yes. I mean, he's only won titles in Sweden, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France.

He's only won the "golden foot" once, Ligue 1 footballer of the year, featured in the Euro 2012 team of the tournament, been Serie A top scorer and Serie A footballer of the year, and accredited with the highest number of Champions League assists last season. Oh, and been Swedish Male Athlete of the Year twice.

And he must stand a good chance of finally winning the Champions League this season as PSG look amazing again.





So Marshy, how exactly is Zlatan "4 goals against England last time we played" Ibrahimovic overrated? Seriously, what more do you expect him to do to justify his hype?

Bizarrely, Sweden's record without Zlatan in the side is better than with him in it (I can't remember my source for sure - I think heard it on a podcast, probably football weekly)

Lol! Yeah. I saw the Barnsley one as one of my friends is a season ticket holder there. It was pretty good. But the Ibrahimobic goal is a bit Vicente-like in the way he fools defenders. Absolutely wonderful, just about the best advert for football I've seen for a long time.
