Could pretty much tell from the off he wasnt going to be good enough for where we are at.

Hopefully has a decent career though

Had he been 26 when he played for our first team i'd agree, but what was he, 20?

Looked OK when i've seen him play for us. I've seen much worse striking performances from our senior options. Like Gyokeres, I think he'll go on to do alright and has a chance to get himself to a top division later in his career

I like him, certainly seemed better attitude and up for it than Connolly. Also had something different about him than Maupay. I just think we've improved more quickly than he has so we've left him behind a bit but not his fault (everyone seems to say strikers develop slowly). I certainly wouldn't like to get rid, another season long loan playing (which he won't here) could be great for him.

He does indeed have something "different" about him, and I think he could be a late-bloomer. Good physique, nice work rate and knows how and when to get involved. Only thing, unfortunately no minor problem, is that he is technically not on the right level (yet, at least), especially his awkwark first touch which is very important at this level. Hopefully he can improve in Basel.

Official.

On loan to FC Basel.

Excellent. The Swiss league is usually entertaining, looking forward to see plenty of their games this season.

A pity really, but best of luck to him. Was always a bit of an odd one to expect so much for someone from the Swiss Second Division.

For those saying that at his age Zamora and Murray were rolling around in the lower leagues, thats all well and good but not much use to us now in the PL. Better to let him go and allow him to develop rather than clinging on desperately on the off chance that he becomes good enough in 5 years time.

As Naylor points out - we paid £3M for him. An ok loan in Germany , a good loan in Switzerland and a good chance he goes the World Cup means we turn a small profit on him next summer.

Nothing really to compare with Connolly - unless for a dig at the latter, you know, the one who couldn't be arsed to get out of bed to play Tottingham Rovers.

Probably good news for all parties.

Wooopie do!
Yet another player we will probably never see play for us.
Possibly. Apart from the times he has played for us,, of course.

Good luck to him. He probably has a similar future at our club to Karbownik.
Still, we speculate to accumulate. We have so many promising youngsters, not all will be good enough for top 10 EPL.
Yes, this - and a very likely outcome for both youngsters IMHO. Absolutely no hate - just good wishes. Are we anywhere near finding a new home for the man-we-thought-was-going-to-be-a-LB yet?

Nothing to compare other than they're both same age (6 months apart), both strikers, both mostly bench warmers. If you looked at Connolly threads I have mostly supported him and wished him well but personally I felt Zeqiiri came on with a much more bouyant and positive attitude when he played.

Fairy nuff. There have been so many Connolly digs (and yes, he probably does deserve some of them) that your post looked like just another one - apologies if it wasn't meant as such. From my point of view, Connolly looked like a real threat (based on Tottingham and his time in PL2), and maybe - yes, maybe, but I admit I am starting to lose faith - whereas Zeqiri, I thought, though tidy and willing, never looked a threat to anybody

Basel at Brondby tonight in the Europa Conference League, will be interesting to see if Zeqiri is involved.

Zeqiri has scored his first goal for Basle and they are level on aggregate 2-2 at home to Brondby in Europa qualifying. Goal Live! has him with a top rating of 9.1/10 currently.
