I would say he is probably first reserve, any injuries to main four and he stands a chance, he has scored against a lot of the big teams this year and really should be in the mix,

good luck bobby, fingers crossed

i think if he gets a run out in the last 2 friendlies and happens to score i would err on the side of capello including him in the squad, bobby is now at the hieght of his game and if he ever does play for england again now is the time, capello seems a bit of a current form kind of manager and hopefully bobby can finish the season strong , i can see why so called pundits dismiss him as a inclusion because he does tend to miss the odd sitter, but the day a manager gets swayed by what jeff thompson and alan hansen say will be the day to take up golf.

But they take place after the 'provisional' squad is picked, so in a way the answer is none. I can't see how Fabio could not have been impressed by Zamora tonight, but then he's been playing like that for a long time now and not had a sniff. I felt sure Capello would pick him for the Egypt squad, since he didn't I think it's highly unlikely he'll pick him for the World Cup. Sadly.

I think that his lack of experience in playing for England will count against him and he will probably miss out as a result, had he already made his international debut then he might have been a cert for the squad.

It may depend upon numbers for the provisional squad as to whether Bobby Z will get a place in it and a chance to shine and book his place if he can keep on impressing and then he might get a chance in the 2 friendlies and if he then does well in those, them there is every chance he will go, but it also depends on whether Capello will risk a spot on an unknown player at that level.

Are there any limits to how many they can name in the provisional squad?

Am I right in thinking that when he went to Fulham he wore the number 9 but has recently reverted back to his 'lucky' 25?

Missing sitters has blighted Heskey's career, but he's still going (and he definitely is going).

Truth is, Rooney, Defoe & Heskey are already on the plane. There are 3 ways Zamora will be too:

1. Capello takes 4 strikers & decides Zamora is the backup to Heskey (ahead of Crouch - this is unlikely)
2. Capello takes 5 strikers & takes Crouch & Zamora
3. Injury to one of Rooney, Defoe, Heskey or Crouch

IMO, and taking away my Albion bias, he should be going to the world cup. If there is any justice then he would be.

He can do everything Heskey can, plus he can actually score goals.

For Capello though he is probably thinking the stage will be too big for Bobby, especially as he is uncapped.

I agree. By every standard he's had a better season than Heskey and Capello has always made a big point about saying he'll pick form over reputation. However, I still don't think he'll go because Capello won't stick to it - he never has.

Yeah. For his first season at Fulham he wore the number 9 shirt. This season he has been wearing number 25.

I think that is the only chance that he would have. Capello seems pretty set on his favorites (even that lumox Heskey) so it would take an injury to one of them for Bobby to get a look in and even then he's got Agbonlahor and Carlton Cole to contend with.

What annoys me is that he's mentioned in the same breath as Carlton Cole. I mean seriously, what the f*** has Cole done? And what is it about Carlton Cole that means Alan Hansen doesn't sit there shaking his head when someone suggests he should be on the plane?

Zamora is a great link up man, scores goals, and is an excellent target man who scares the shit out of the best defenders in the world. The only question marks are over his heading ability and the fact he does miss easy chances from time to time. But overall, I think he offers something similar to Crouch. Crouch stays ahead of Zamora because he's scored goals for England - that would be because he's been GIVEN THE CHANCE, Mr Capello.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Germany 1 - 5 England
Croatia 1 - 5 England

THE 2 best England performances of the last 10 years. It's no coincidence Heskey played a key role in both.

I'm surprised people still need convincing how massively important a player Heskey is to England.

You really do have the blinkers on regarding Heskey dont you.

Capello clearly isnt going to take Zamora sadly.

Rooney
Defoe
Crouch
Heskey

and if he takes a 5th i think he will go with Agbonlahor for something different.

However Zamora is light years ahead of Heskey, and if Capello is true to his word and picks the form players then Heskey cant get in the squad let alone the side.

I would take 5 strikers and not bother with back up to Glen Johnson at RB. Stevie G can play there if necessary. Would love it if the Bobster made the cut.

He deserves a chance but isn't there ONE more friendly til the squad is announced? There's just not enough time. As promising as hes's looking now, think of all the prolific strikers at club level down the years so much better then Zamora who failed in an England shirt. Phillips, Cole, Wright, Le Tissier...Bobby is nowhere near the standard of any of those players and he ain't gonna prove otherwise in one game.

His best bet now is to keep doing as well as he can in a Fulham shirt and make the squad for the Euro qualifiers in the autumn cos he'll we take him to the World Cup now with one game under his belt and he's gonna sink like a stone.

It's got to come down to either Heskey or Bobby, Bobby's the form player with more running in his legs ... Heskey is proven ... Head says Heskey ... heart begs and begs for it to be Bobby! Remember there is always a player who comes into the squad from nowhere and plays a key role in the team ... maybe, just maybe this is Bobby's WC

RIGHT THAT'S IT I'M SAYING BOBBY GOES ...

Maybe demolishing a Juve defence in Front of Capello will just change his mind who knows..the further that cart horse Heskey is away from the squad the better.

Anyone saying that Zamora is going to do the Heskey role better than Heskey is a f***ing idiot.
