BBC Live Text - correspondent is going mad about Zamora in the live game!
"1543: Bobby Zamora - yes, him again - heads against the bar from a left-wing cross... He could play the Heskey role alongside Wayne Rooney.
1542: Zamora for England... Lovely bit of skill in midfield from the Fulham striker, which is swiftly ended by Lorik Cana's foul.
1539: Wow, Sunderland's defence just cannot cope with Bobby Zamora. He flicks on a corner at the near post, but no-one anticipates and the ball bounces across the box."

1555: The Zamora for England bandwagon is gathering pace. That's me and TomTomHotspur now.
From TomTomHotspur on 606 "Rather Zamora than Heskey! Zamora isn't a lethal finisher but his all-round play is better than Heskey's, as well as his goal scoring record... Oh yeah, and he gets picked for his team too... always a plus."

not likely unless he a) scores a hat full of goals and b) turns his back on Trindad who he has been involved with. he was seleceted for their squad a while back, though having not actually played i think he can still technically play for England.

Zamora for England?

No, probably not. Assuming Rooney plays, his favoured partner appears to be Heskey (who does OK for England); Defoe is on fire, and Crouch is probably next in line (brilliant goal-scoring record for England, and very definitely that "someting different" to bring on as a sub). Plus Bent and Carlton Cole are on Capello's radar..............
Bobby Z did train with the full England squad back in his Brighton days, though.

Zamora is a completely different player to when he played for us. Whenever I see him these days he impresses me with his build-up play but his finishing is dreadful. Also, he always seems to fade in the second half.

He played BRILL midweek also and is now FINALLY being noticed for his immense team work that he does up front.

If he can knock in a few more then you NEVER KNOW.

Defoe, rooney and crouch are NAILED on.

I think capello will take two more.

Carlton cole is injured
Heskey isn't playing or scoring.

Why the HELL couldnt bob make it?

1814: USA keeper Tim Howard saves a penalty from England striker Jermain Defoe. Fellow England striker Peter Crouch missed a few good chances for Spurs. Not a great afternoon for Fabio Capello - although Bobby Zamora's performance will surely have given him a boost.

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson on (England's) Bobby Zamora: "In the first half he was magnificent, in the second half he didn't get the service but he was a constant thorn in Sunderland's side. I thought his performance was good throughout and he was a major factor in our victory."

Crouch is definitely NOT nailed on the squad. Capello's not a fan, plus he will be totally worthless against anyone bar Algeria and Slovakia.

Crouch is a big liability. in the air decent defenders simply back into him to make it look like a foul, on the floor he is very technical and good, but others are equal or better. he doesnt really add anything other than novelty, and thats worn off now.

Zamora is in the Heskey mold, cant fault his work rate but the goals dont seem to come.

At the end of the day he just doesn't score enough goals. The last thing England need is a non-scoring striker.

Edited for effect, and to include Heskey and Carlton Cole. That said, ZAMORA FOR ENGLAND :albion2:

If someone would tell him to forget the team work and start being selfish to score more, he'd bang them in again. Big, strong, determined and capable.

As much as I like the bloke, if he's in the World Cup squad then something is seriously wrong with our strikers, and you can write off our chances of winning!
