I wonder how the wage bill breaks down per Palace player.

I imagine Wilf and Benteke account for about 80% with the rest being shared equally between the others...probably with added Lidl discount cards and all the Dirty Chicken you can eat.

Don't forget Max "the German Messi" Meyer, reportedly on £125,000 per week.

He’s payed in drachmas I expect.

£125k for that clown is one of the funniest things I’ve read for yonks. Cheers.

Eyewatering. You can bet several of those deals will have been ramped up as well now, specially with the likes of Ayew getting regular gametime.

Wilf is about due his usual transfer window bonus deal now as well of course.

An idea what this looked like for the last period for which there are published accounts? It feels like another step up in terms of overall salaries; a step up from eye watering to ludicrous?

Nice try, but the figures are for the accounting period ending in 2013, which for CPFC2010 Ltd was 30 June 2013, i.e. before they joined the PL.

Fair enough, that wasn’t clear from the graph.

How about this reply then?

You'll always be ahead of us on that front.

We don't need to pay players that much to sign for us. Can't think why?

Except for 2012 and 2013 when you spent more on wages than palace did.

Is that any better?

(As an aside I can’t get your link to work)

28 this year and i doubt anybody would stump up 80 million for him. He isn't worth that now. If he was 24/25 then he would certainly command that fee.

I think as Merson says the ship has sailed for him to go to a top 6 side. Zaha should have never signed a new deal. That would have forced a move.

So you're having to trawl back SEVEN years, when both clubs were still in the Championship, to discover a time when BHA and CPFC2010's respective wagebills were still vaguely aligned.

Right-o.

It was a direct link to the CPFC2020 Ltd accounts on the Companies House website. Instead, if interested, one can go here: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/07206409/filing-history?page=2 - "23 Dec 2013 Group of companies' accounts made up to 30 June 2013"

To come up with such a post, I can only guess you missed this.

To be fair on all of this, a better comparison would be palace's wages year 1 in the PL versus ours, then year 2, and 3. I think the gap will be smaller with the major difference being the ridiculous wages for little return splashed on Benteke and Meyer. Of course this is offset by wage inflation in the intervening years but I think it gives a better comparison.

Don’t be so bloody ridiculous, why would any Brighton fan want to do a fair comparison?

Just did a PL comparison,
CPFC -first season £45 mill, second season £68 mill.
BHAFC-first season £77mill, second season £101 mill.

No, I saw that. I quoted it.

My point is, you're having to go back an awfully long way with all your whataboutery, when our wagebill was all of £2.3m higher than yours.

You've picked a convenient snapshot season from years ago to try to make a point, but in the great scheme of things, its a total irrelevance when you look at whats happened since - the CPFC2010 wagebill has outstripped ours by £36m, £47m, £53m, £72m, and £40m (plus whatever 2019 holds).

The gap obviously narrows now we're on the gravy train, but it'll be a long long time (if EVER) when we are routinely paying circa £120-£130k a week to our squad members. That is bonkers money for a small club like Palace to be throwing around.

But that's not a fair comparison either, as the money given to each club by the PL differs wildly:

2013/14 - CPFC2010 received £73M

2017/18 - BHA received £108M
