cahill on a free and 75k p/w = cash flow problermos

I'm prepared to be shot down here, because I probably don't understand these things, but £75k a week for Cahill on a free seems ok to me.

He's 33 - maybe that's old, but my perspective has been warped by Bruno and Murray. He's still a good player isn't he? If it was £45k a week that would seem pretty decent wouldn't it? So over the two years, they're going to pay an extra £3m over £45k a week, which isn't much in today's terms. We're expecting to lose more than that on Locadia and Ali J.

Put me in my place, tell me where I'm getting this all wrong?

There's no "must be" about it. They've sold a player for £50m but all that's done is stop them from going bust.

The deals they are trying to do are all "we'll pay you later, honest" ones.

The accounts (from last year, and it's not improved since) show what a mess they're in.

Let's just reiterate the fact that they are borrowing £40m every year against the following year's PL cash. Plus £6m against the following year's season ticket sales.

Spin that any way you like and it says SKINT.

The transfer deals they are doing/attempting to do just prove the point.

Partly explained by their colossal run away wages bill (relative to income), with overpaid fringe players such as Benteke, Wickham and Riedewald unsaleable.

They've spaffed SO MUCH cash on the transfer fees of the likes of Benteke and Sakho (who they are still paying for) and the utterly crippling wages of those two plus the likes of Meyer and the SEGW, they have very little room for manoeuvre in the transfer market now.

They are bringing in players like Cahill very much on the downward slope, arse-end of their careers. And hopeless budget cack-filled cases like Jordan Ayew (ONE goal last season). Its all coming home to roost at the Stade de Clad.

Of course we still need to drive this home by finishing above the south London filth, on a fraction of what they've blown over the years in this league (and has now left them with an utterly eyewatering 79% of wages to turnover - the highest in the PL). Well, I hope not. Going into administration is in effect theft, certainly the way Palace do it. You only have to look at the hundreds of companies who ended up with an offer of 2p in the £ last time round. An acquaintance of mine who owns his own business was owed around £5k from a company that carried on trading and taking his services, but then suddenly went into administration, and he ended up with absolutely fvck all. That's the reality, it really hurts small businesses.

Once you'd hope is a lesson. Twice though...what utter scum they are. Shameless.

Let's put a situation together whereby you lose nothing but you're initial investment (as you've said, that's gone, and wasn't much anyway).

We'll rinse this year's money through Smoke And Mirrors Ltd and you do the publicity to explain how you "can't take the club any further".

Then you **** off, leaving the yanks with the mess. Yes this will screw the club but at least you can walk away.

Well he's certainly towards the end of his career, but we've had success with players who have been in the same position.

He's not there to make them money, as AWB has, but he's there to defend and I'd imagine he can do that.

We'll find out soon enough.

They sure did, although we need to take into account that was in the Championship, for about £10k a week, not in the PL.

It guess it really depends how fit he is, and if his attitude is right (which I imagine it is).
