The context of that makes it seem racist. But the context of the fried chicken comment was that HMRC had been investigating Parish (and Murray) about ownership of a chain of fried chicken restaurants. That's the context. That's not racist.
There was no link between chicken and Zaha until you just made reference there. The key point is in bold. You didn't read the thread, so don't jump to conclusions.

Like a lot of things I'm sure this will come down to how much money Zaha wants. He's told Palace he wants to leave to join the team he supported as a club but significantly hasn't handed in a transfer request. Last summer they made him the highest paid player in their history, which is significant in this case, because Palace will have to pay off the rest of his contract if he moves unless he hands in transfer request. So unless he does so, Palace will ask for silly money to compensate them for paying off his contract and the sell on clause Man Utd have. If Zaha is serious about moving to Arsenal he will have to forfeit the money from the rest of contract and hand in a transfer request. Otherwise Palace will hold out.

I accept that it's possible to be racist towards black people by making certain comments about fried chicken (as explained by someone else, due to the link to slaves in the US frying chicken). But most of us down south wouldn't ever think of such a link. There have been many comments on Kaz's love of Nandos, and no one has ever suggested that's racist.

"Crystal Palace have been left incensed by Arsenal's approach to sign Ivory Coast winger Wilfried Zaha.
The Gunners have offered £40m, which will not even be considered.
Palace value Zaha at around £80m and are furious with Arsenal for what they believe to be a ham-fisted attempt to destabilise the Ivorian and secure a cut-price deal.
They would expect a drastically higher fee than the £50m Manchester United paid them for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Wan-Bissaka is a 21-year-old right-back with limited experience and no international caps; Zaha is a 26-year-old winger with vast experience and a full international.
Zaha signed a new five-year contract last summer, which recognised his importance to the team and club by making him by far the highest-paid player in Palace history.

Although Zaha's brother has publicly pleaded with Palace to reach an agreement with Arsenal, in order for the winger to "realise his dream of playing European football for the club he has supported since childhood" - the Eagles are unmoved.
Palace believe Arsenal's method in this case is outdated and naive.
They have no intention of lowering their valuation and are confident that Zaha's relationship with the club is long-standing and strong enough to ensure he resumes his duties without a problem if a move does not come to fruition."

Apparently according to the "secret footballer", if a player is under contract the club he is under contract to pay off the rest of his contract, unless he hands in a transfer request. That's why so many players are reluctant to hand one in because they lose their contract money. It also explains why Zaha told Palace he wants to leave, but didn't actually hand in a transfer request. But presumably it would have a knock on effect on the transfer fee. If a player hands in transfer request and the club no longer have to pay off his contract then presumably they don't need to ask for as much money.
