How many Premier League sides are packed with academy graduates? The simple fact is many won't make the grade. Others may be good enough for top flight football buy they've a hell of a job in their hands to displace a first team regular.

I'd say we're doing pretty well in this respect though. How many academy players have we given game time to in recent years?

Best academies in the world usually have a target of two academy players establishing themselves around the first team every season... and few of these teams play in the PL. So far the academy has been doing a good job, though I do believe it is possible to take yet another step. Pretty far from a five minute job though - most things you do to improve your academy won't be noticable for 10 years or so.

Chelsea are years ahead of us in that regard and have the benefit of being able to suck in the best youngsters around. But what's their biggest academy graduate sale? Tammy for 30-odd million. Remind me what we got for Ben White :)

Now confirmed. Has clearly not made the strides needed to become a top half EPL player although his stats would suggest otherwise.

Looks like a great deal for Blackpool.
Hopefully we’ve got a chunky sell-on.

More than anything it shows how far we’ve pushed on over the last couple of years. Very few of our youngsters will make the grade here now. Good luck to the kid.

Homesick maybe? Don't see this as good news for us, not with that goalscoring record. Hope we have a humungous sell on clause, or even a buy back one.

Anyway, good luck to young Zac - hope the Blackpool fans appreciate him. A loan to te Championshi at 18 is not to bre sniffed at!

For such a great scoring record at his age level, I'm not sure what else he could have done to stay with us?

Thought a loan move would have been great for him & us.

Someone must have seen something to be comfortable letting him go despite the impressive scoring record. Wish him the best but hope we haven't lost a great prospect here

This was very strange . Got loads of goals for u18s and had just got in u21s. I can only assume wanted to be nearer home but would be nice to have a statement from club

I wonder how much the emergence of Evan Ferguson had to do with his decision to leave.

The two are both the same age, and both have performed well at youth levels, but Ferguson has been given the opportunity to push on in the first team squad whilst Emerson was stuck in the U18s and only recently the U21s. Maybe he thought that his progress would be blocked here and opted to try a different club.

Anyone know how this lad is getting on ?
He went to Blackpool but don’t think he got anywhere near the first team.
Looked a real prospect with our youth

Just signed by Eastbourne Borough on loan.
Presumably Beard has brought him in to replace Stefan Vukoje who has a long term injury.
