I love Bissouma and I think his potential ceiling is VERY high but I think we're going a bit far suggesting he's better than Kante.

Kante is a PHENOMENAL player, who is an absolute trophy magnet - I would suggest one of the best ever in his position.

His sides win the biggest trophies. Bissouma's still got a little way to go yet.
Agree with that - I think the vast majority of us would back Biss to go and perform consistently at a Champions League level club but I really struggle to call him (or any Albion player for that matter) "world class" until he's actually gone and done it. It's one thing turning in great performances vs top 6 teams in the PL, it's another performing in the latter stages of Champions League and World Cup campaigns and winning trophies as Kante has done.

Maybe him and his agent feel that leaving next summer will mean the bidding club will not have to pay as much in a transfer fee as this summer, and will then be able to afford higher wages too the player as a result.

TBH with the sums likely to be involved I doubt they have to be that calculating.

Not really, no.

I'd have thought there'd be an additional psychological aspect to handling the occasion of say a World Cup or Champions League final, knowing it might be the only one of their career, versus a comparatively run-of-the-mill PL game against decent opposition? But fair enough - I can't say I have direct access to the inner workings of the brains of elite footballers.

I would love him to sign a new contract but I won't get overly upset if he decides not to. He has been a strong contributor to us staying up for at least 2 seasons (and hopefully will be for at least one more) and as such has probably repaid the investment in him of transfer fee and wages.

I don't think it would tarnish his character if he were to leave on a free, he would be doing nothing wrong and doing so would be very different to being all Billy-big-bollocks with transfer requests or going on strike or forgetting to come home from holiday on time because Man City have made a bid for you...

Slight injury that took him off today? Or was it tactical?

Injury. Fell awkwardly in a tackle after about 35 mins, was limping the rest of the half. Actually surprised to see him come out for the 2nd half and last as long as he did. Total guess but (hopefully minor) knee ligament sprain or similar perhaps - his knee was strapped above and below when he came out for the second half.

One more season with us, Biss - another couple of milliion quid in your bank, and we will let you go to a big team (if you want to go there) for £40M or £50M (or a bit more if there's a bidding war). Go with our blessing. Ho offers of £40 or £50M, and you can sign for anther three years fir £2,5M - £3.0M a year.
Seems a good starting point (and ending point) for negotiations.
£50M, and off you go for wages way beyond your wildest dreams here - looks like a good deal going down........................

Knee ligaments ,depending on which is likely a few weeks at the least

West Ham won’t accept £100m for Declan Rice, he’ll sign for Manure or Chelsea for more than that.

Identical roles really, Rice is 2.5 years younger.

I reckon Bissouma’s fee will comfortably exceed White’s.
