Think we'll just have to let this one play out, on the assumption that he wouldn't join if he didn't want to. And I actually doubt Potter would sign him if he didn't
Potter - Official Site :

"It’s therefore important that we bring in the right people who are proud to play for Brighton at an exciting time in their career."

Yes, we won't sign him if he isn't that keen on joining.

I bet the haggling will be over doing this as a transfer rather than activating the release clause. The release clause has to be paid by the player himself (although Albion would transfer this money as part of a contract) and this is subject to a big tax hit. Leganes will want something in excess of the 20m clause to do this as a transfer. Will probably reach some kind of compromise for about 23-24m.

Google translation:

Leganés have rejected in recent days an offer of 20 million euros by Youssef En Nesyri, Moroccan striker (22 years) and top scorer last season with 11 targets between Liga and Copa. En Nesyri's termination clause is 20 million, but Brighton wants to sign him by the transfer way and not by paying his freedom in LaLiga.

Statistics

The Leganés wants In Nesyri to stay, but he also does not refuse a sale as long as the offer is more favourable, that is, higher.

This is the third attempt made by Brighton for En Nesyri in recent days. Before, there was an offer of 15 million in a single payment and another of 20 in two payments. Both were turned down. The last formal offer is this morning: 20 million in a single payment. Leganés has yet to respond to this proposal. It is not ruled out that they do accept this payment formula, although the initial intention of the club is, if sold, to achieve more income from the player.
The English are the only team to have made an offer for En Nesyri. Over the course of the summer several squadrons have knocked on his door, but they have done so without taking the step of executing an offer.
Renewal dialogue
Leganés, as the Diario AS advanced at the end of the season, does not rule out renewing the footballer. In recent days Leganés and En Nesyri have been in dialogue to reach a verbal agreement for contractual improvement. These conversations have not come to fruition because of disagreements in the player's salary. The pepinera proposal (verbal, not in writing) also carried out the condition of raising the clause so that its exit is not as 'affordable' as it is now.
In Nesyri he does not initially close the door to follow in Leganés, but as long as he feels an important player in sports (that Pellegrino gives him franchise player status) and in the extra-sports, that is, in his contractual situation.
The striker signed for Leganés a year ago. It was the most expensive signing in the club's history: it cost 5.1 million euros and signed until 2023. The Moroccan international didn't train this morning with his teammates and has stayed in the gym with the club doctor.

This one makes sense.

We heard that Potter likes tall strikers.
Fairly quick.
Mainly a ST but can play anywhere in a front 3 (according to TransferMarkt) which would suit GP's fluid front 3.
Sounds a bit like Locadia ............................

I presume their U23 team are known as 'the courgettes'.

"We are green, we are wet;
We taste good in vinaigrette.
La la la la la, lala, lala, lala."

Etc.

Worth 5.1 M euros a year ago (when they bought him), and 'worth' 20M now? Dream on - the greedy bu88ers can stuff that.

I think we need to seal the deal quickly, so let’s not muck around any more and give them a few English Marrows to keep them sweet! :lolol:

and if he scored 11 goals for us this season he'll be off again for about £70m.

Potter favours a target man type striker, so this guy does fit the mould. He looks quite mobile for a biggun, can certainly head a ball and has got good feet/technique, no slouch either. Would be good if we can get him.
