I was merely trying to draw a vaguely amusing analogy with the difference between people singing about Brighton fans being gay and accosting them individually after the game with HIV related insults etc. Obviously I failed.
The thing is, chanting that opponents are sheep shaggers is not the same as chanting that they're gay. People should be able to understand that, although I appreciate a lot of people don't.

Which is? Wales are part of the same country we're in, and the same race of people (including me). Surely this is just harmless banter.

Just as a point of order and nothing else, surely Wales, England and Scotland are in fact different countries while belonging to the same Union ?

Think you'll be okay with "you're welsh and you know you are"

Think "sheep shaggers" will put you on very thin ice

Remember Bellamygate

Seriously? ****** is used as a hateful word, and is an extreme insult to a race of people. Calling a group of Welsh fans sheepshaggers is clearly a joke (I'm assuming the Welsh don't tend to have sex with sheep) and not offensive.

Once more for the hard of thinking. Its the intent your Welsh so you shag sheep is a prejudice based upon there race there for is a rascist term and as bad as any other sheeesh

Speaking as a Shrewsbury fan, it is one of the worst insults that you can direct at a rival club's fans. Deeply hurtful and very ignorant.

Excellent.

He has Welsh ancestry. Eric Young (and, I think, John Robinson) didn't. They both chose (or rather - they had an open option) to play for Wales.

Correct. Young was born in Singapore I think, to British parents, and had the option to make himself available for any of the home nations.
He wouldn't have got near the England team, but could have realistically 'chosen' Scotland or Northern Ireland. Not sure how welcoming of a black player those nations would have been at the time, mind.

He does...one grandparent was born there...but he did choose to be Welsh when he was clearly English. I know where you're coming from, though.

So being gay is worse than being Welsh?
 The point is, the Welsh are not really going round shagging sheep, it's a joke (and if they are, they deserve to be offended, it's sick and illegal).

Nobody with any sense really thinks they shag sheep. And they're the same race as us, so even if it is offensive, it's not racist.

Fair enough but what about that fact that FIFA and UEFA recognise the three as different countries - that's what the lack of a GB team is all about.
The lack of the GB team is all about the fact that we want to keep our individual teams. FIFA wants us to play as GB, but given that the first ever international football game was England vs Scotland we do have a fair argument that we should be kept as separate. It's bad enough that FIFA control football, thankfully they don't have a say on which nations are countries in the real world.

(PS, don't mind me, I'm on a mission to teach my fellow Brits that we're one country)

Welsh people tend to be quite touchy, I find. Sort of inferiority complex. They don't do humour either. And they generalise all the time. Nice mountains though, and some good castles, although the latter are Norman rather than Welsh I guess.
