What would you have given to Morgan Gibbs-White?

My frustration as many fan share is VAR got MGW booked not the ref, the ref thought it was all ball fair enough weigh in but weigh in on all missed issues cause it was a foul.

One other thought apparently it was the 4th official who watched it on the pitch side screen ? Anthony Taylor? Seems he pulled rank on the ref and influenced him ……rumours of seniority?

Regardless Morgan was stupid he’s better than that and he deserved to go.
Don't think VAR was involved. They can only look at potential reds and can't say 'should be a yellow'. It's probably as simple as the fourth official / linesman giving additional advice to the ref to the effect 'bad tackle / booking'. Wouldn't have needed to look at the screen. That's their job - so it wouldn't be a surprise that this is what happened. Unlikely anything to do with pulling rank.

Not true though.

Antony Taylor (4th official recommended the yellow, not VAR, who weren't consulted )
Part of the 4th officials duties is to advise the ref if they've missed acautionable offence (which he had)
Well, VAR probably did look at it, to see if it merited a straight red.

As you correctly state though, they're never involved in yellow cards under the current VAR implementation.

Ooh I heard someone say that. Didn't realise it was you. If it was (and not someone else who had a similar view) I was the bloke who fleetingly discussed the forest fans' myopia with you
Haha, by the front of a coach ? Aye, that must've been us.
Ships in the night my friend

Can’t believe more hasn’t been made of the header your lad scored 🤔, it was a ripper, and then Danny walloped one in 🤣…..holding your goal of the season competition over a 3 minute period.
Yeah two great goals - both at your end though......
We just got to see Woods score against us (again).

Disappointed to hear Given slag off your keeper, on MotD2, for Welbz' s freekick.
I'd rather think he was rooted because of the quality of the strike.

Wood has been great to be fair to him, as for Sels he has a mistake in him, he doesn’t like long shots, short shots, high shots or low shots, in fact it quite hard to get the shot that’s right for him 🤨

To be fair to him, the Welbeck v Sels head-to-head was a draw. Any criticism he gets for letting the free kick go in on 'his' side, he takes equal credit, for this excellent bit of keeping at the start of the second half.

Given rightly pointed out Sels should’ve been over to his left as the wall was amply protecting the right of the goal.

From the WSU, I was celebrating that as a goal. Until it wasn't.

I can’t compute anyone thinking it was not at least a second yellow. The only debate is whether it should be a red. I think it should given scissor tackles have been a focus. Getting the ball is irrelevant when you put a player in danger.

Re the pen. It was soft and forest player knew what he was doing but it has to be a pen. Stone wall. If it had not been given I am sure VAR would have said to look. Yes he stepped across but that is fine to protect the ball. Baleba was naive. If that was not given in the oppo box I would be fuming and if one of our players did that dumb MGW tackle I would also be fuming.
Don't think the penalty was stonewall, but there was no way it was going to get overturned, given the high bar VAR is set at this season. It was a daft challenge: CHO was chasing after the ball heading in the direction of the corner flag. Baleba has been stunning this season but decisions like that need to be drummed out of his repertoire if he wants to be the player he could be.

While we're on the subject, is there no panel to intervene in EFL cup matches? Where it the retrospective ban for Jay Williams?

That’s 2 bad tackles that have injured 2 of our players this season , and on both occasions the ref didn’t think it was a foul ,
I thought they were meant to protect players
