I'm voting for who I've been told is a wasted vote in my constituency, we'll see.

I'm a big non-fan of tactical voting.

As far as I'm concerned it is a plague on both the Tory and Labour Houses. A Plague on all anti-Single Market Houses in fact.

In my constituency it is neck and neck between Tory and Labour. And neither got my vote. Lol.

Maybe the loser in the neck and neck race will consider why they failed, and registering my disapproval aids them in their search for answers.

In prior elections, I replied to those who said voting for Labour in EWAS was a wasted vote and how, over a series of elections, a growing share of the vote would signal to others there was an increasing chance that Labour could achieve what long looked impossible.

Labour's share of the vote increased from the 2010 election onwards: 16%, 19%, 39% before broadly plateauing at 37% in 2019. This election will be Labour's time.

Ultimately the decision to make Tom Rutland the official Labour candidate came down to a vote of Labour Party members. Of the candidates on the shortlist he won that vote. Thats democracy, the voters liked what they saw and heard

No need for the sour grapes, you were probably looking for any excuse not to vote Labour anyway.

There's a story behind how that shortlist was selected though, wasn't there? I wouldn't know that if a good friend, who's been pounding the streets canvassing for both local Labour candidates for many months, hadn't told me.

No sour grapes at all - I'm just firmly against the parachuting in, regardless of party. For me it also applies to local elections - I won't vote for a council candidate if they don't live in my ward.

as others have said, i’m lucky enough that a vote for (the closest thing to) my beliefs is also a vote that keeps the tories out (they have no chance of winning here). i actually do not care that sian berry has also been seemingly parachuted in here, i simply cannot vote for starmer’s labour party as they have crossed several red lines of mine and i believe KS is a fundamentally dishonest man (im not interested in discussing this at this point). so green it will be.

Horsham is predicted by all pollsters to go Lib Dem. Bookies have them odds on to win as well.

Normally tactically vote anyone but Tory which is usually futile in my constituency.

The irony is that Labour are well placed to actually win here, neck and neck with the Tory. However I'm so disappointed with Labour's position on Europe, I am thinking I might vote LibDem (who were neck and neck with them in 2019 - both a way behind the Tory on 10200-ish votes each)

Well I ended up voting Labour.

I checked 4 tactical voting sites and they say a) the LDs are not targeting my seat and b) Labour and Tory are split by just 1-2%.

It's really very annoying that I feel I've been forced into voting Labour - a party too scared to come up with any policies beyond adding VAT to private school fees - and all because of our utterly shit FPTP system that keeps the status quo in place.

I think there's a national shortage of marker pens, around here at least, bought up to deface Tory election banners!

I am lucky as I was able to vote for who I wanted to and in tactical voting it was the one recommended to out the Tory.

Others have always made the choice.

I have never had the deciding vote. I have never lived in a constituency which was tied or with a majority of 1.

My point, I suppose, is that it has never mattered what my vote was. The same candidate was elected regardless of it.

So from that - I vote to send a message. If my constituency is close the more likely that message is taken on board in the future.

Here in Findon we come under East Worthing and Shoreham for some reason. You'd have always said that is Tory through and through. However, here's how the Labour share of the vote has changed over recent elections:​

2010: 16.7%​

2015: 19.5%​

2017: 39.3%​

​

If people thought "a vote for Labour is wasted" in those previous elections, and put their X somewhere else, then we wouldn't have the position we have today where Labour could have a real chance (if they had a leader of any merit anyway).​

Yes but Labour other than 2010 always the second largest party there. I don't think anyone is saying that sort of thing is a wasted vote. It's voting for Greens or Labour in areas like Lewes where they have no chance of winning and another party more in line with them would

The ink in cheap pens would dry out over the day and you'd end up having hundreds of votes where the cross is barely visible creating a nightmare at close counts where parties are arguing over their validity - think US election in 2000.
