FC St Pauli for me. Been going over to Germany to watch them play since 1997, ever since I found about them whilst on an exchange trip to Hamburg. Saw them lose 1-0 to Hamburg SV Amateurs last month (the first time i've seen St Pauli lose!) but they've since won 3 games on the spin and shot up the Regionalliga North table! Back in the Bundesliga next year!

I've got a sleeveless denim jacket (the height of German fan fashion don't you know) that sports badges of both teams. If you're very lucky you may catch a sight of it this season. It's made appearances at Leicester and Watford and will be worn at Sunderland. Worth 10 points when playing Albion I-Spy.

To explain my second English team:

I was brought up in Lincolnshire, and my first ever match was at Sincil Bank, so they are my second team. The Albion are first because I was brought up by a Brighton fan. So, family first, locality second.

But my second team now are, really, Alloa, because they were my local team when I first moved up here, and I've continued to support them although I've moved away (Alloa's hated local rivals Stirling Albion are now my nearest team; and I'm in Perthshire, so I should support St Johnstone, really). However, I'm just about to move back to within 5 miles of Alloa's ground, so that's that. Up the mighty Wasps!

Badger, are you moving here?

Have you passed the entry test? :jester: :dunce:

Or do you think the village has been illuminated by your efforts in the Glen? :flameboun

Or has "her indoors" given you an ultimatum? :lolol:  ???

Can't understand why others have second teams to support as you cannot expend time and energy following them as well.

However, having lived in Manchester near Maine Road I have a soft spot for Manchester City and always hope that Charlton do well in the Premiership because if they can do it then when we get Falmer it could be possible for us to do the same thing.

Otherf than that I have an aversion to big teams who think their name and history warrants them success, and any team with too much money to spend.

I particularly despise Celtic and Rangers for single handedly ruining the Scottish League.

Oh and by the way... like Badger my second team seems to shange depending on where I am living...

Dundee 1983 - 86 - Dundee FC :nono:

Edinburgh 1986 - 1994 - Heart of Midlothian FC

Stirling 1994 - 1998 - ...err Hearts

Clackmannanshire 1998 - err I don't really have a proper second team but closely follow the progress and the scores of
Hearts, Stirling, Alloa, and (sorry Albas) ... Celtic (it's her indoors honest!)

I have an interest in 6 or 7 clubs. the difference is I don't get bad tempered and refuse to buy sunday papers and watch football on tv if any of them lose. When Brighton lose, it fecks up my weekend completely

i agree Brighton first and foremost however i have an interest in la liga as my nan is spanish and i like to follow valencia and seen them play. whatever anyone says about man u i like watching them as i sometimes think they play exciting football esp up front, even more so this season i will be looking out for them purely cos i don't want the arse to win the league saying that it would be good if chelsea had a go.

i have watched a few premiership games, spurs, liverpool and been to newcastle purely cos i like football however doesn't make me less of a brighton fan just cos i go and pay money to another club.

I don't support any other English team, though a hatred of both ManUre and Chel$ea means seeing Arsenal do well is good - they are also the most entertaining side around at the moment.

But my second team would have to be FC Barcelona, simply because I have been to the city and absolutely love it. Plus the way the Catalans were treated in the Franco years was very unpleasant, and Barca came to represent an entire people rather than just a town/city as practically every other team does.

Ah yes - my European team. I was told when I was a kid, 'you're English, and you're of the left - so you should support Barca'. The advice stuck.

Ditto! My main reason for supporting them is they are THE premier anti-fascist team in Germany and as you know ex-Shelt the atmosphere at a Pauli game is more akin to something like a Levellers gig than a football match. I've done quite a few gigs in Germany with Attila and everywhere the anti-fascists look to St Pauli for inspiration.

Great to see them coming back since they dropped into regional football, wouldn't it be brilliant to see them in Europe?

PS - losing to the Hamburg AMATEURS must have really hurt, it used to be bad enough losing to the Bundesliga side.

Yeah I too have a soft spot for Barca and the Catalan people, especially over 'Franco' Madrid, but that shirt, it's a bit TOO much like Palace for my liking. Still, they don't/won't have sponsor's names on it, only the Nike logo.

I've put I only support Albion. Because I do. I have, however been to see Everton twice as I went to Uni in Liverpool and my mate has a season ticket. I tend to watch a game with him if they are playing when I'm up there. I'd like to see both Liverpool and Everton do better than they are. Probably because having lived there I understand the passion they have for football in the area. I've also seen Real Madrid before. My wife works with Spaniards on a daily basis and she was living in Madrid for about 6 months. I also like to see Spurs do well as my Grandad came from there and supported them. I also like to see whoever is playing Man Utd do well. I like watching Arsenal purely for the sheer entertainment of their football. I sometimes show a slight interest in the results of St Johnstone as my Nan is from Perth and I visit her once a year.

I guess I'm just a football fan but I only SUPPORT Albion Albion Albion...

It was bad, very very bad. H$V scored in the 1st minute, almost straight from the kick-off, and St Pauli spent the next 89 minutes bumbling about cocking up passes and falling over. Barely had a shot on target. It was played at the AOL as well, so there was a crowd of 6,500 in a ground that holds 55,000. Did a lot for the atmosphere.
Things seem to have really picked up since then with 3 wins on the bounce. Beat Paderborn 3-0 away when they were 2nd in the table. I think they "touched bottom" against H$V, unlucky that I was present to see it.
I'll have to wait until next year before I can take in a game at the Millerntor because our good away games all clash with St Pauli home games. Hopefully i'll be going to a promotion party in Berlin on the last day of the season when St Pauli play Hertha Berlin Amateurs!
