Refreshingly no-one has championed Pool, a game seeming played by oiks and ruffians.
Spoof is fun too, we used to play it to see who would go and get the beverages when I worked at Telecom House in Preston road. Quite often the game took so long due to people getting stuck on the phone (the supposedly primary function of the unit) that early eliminations could be seen wandering to the coffee machine to get thier own drink.
Not a game I've ever seen played in a pub in the UK, but common enough in some Italian bars ... chess.
I've never known greater pressure than playing chess in front of a crowd of spectators, all of whom consider themselves experts and have a way of passing judgement on anything they consider to be a poor move.
Darts is my favourite, but to be honest I'm happy with any of the other traditional games. Can't stand a gastro pub that takes the pub games out so they can fit more tables in to do food.
