A mate of mine bumped into Leon Knight a few days before we were playing Wednesday at Withdean.

My mate told the diminutive tossbag about me being one of the few Albion fans in Sheffield and Knight said "Well I ****ing hate Wednesday so I'm gonna score a goal for him".

Told all my Wednesday [emoji23] and United mates about it, so when it came up on the big screen in the boozer "Brighton 1 Sheffield Wednesday 0 (Knight)".... Absolute SCENES! And we won.

My stepmom's grandfather played for the Albion from 1908 -1910. His name was William Crinson. He played in goal. You cans see him in the attached picture.

He is too short to be a goalie.

I had goalkeeping trials with the Albion back in the 70's.
Played against Peter O'Sullivan in a Sunday league game after he had retired, I think he was playing as a favour to a friend.
Even though he was much older than the rest of us, he ran rings around all of us and scored a hat trick.
Gerry Fell sold me a dodgy mortgage.
I used to canvas for the Albion bingo thing when times were tough.

Met Sully in the social club at Halifax FC. He had travelled up but was dropped for putting in a transfer request. He chatted with us for some time and we worked on him, told him how important he was to us and how much we all pretty much worshiped him. No idea if it helped but he withdrew his transfer request the following week and played for us for a long time.

I played and scored at both ends at the Goldstone ground sort of anyway the day after the final game a fairly large group of us found a way in, the pitch was a complete mess full of holes no goal posts so used jumpers security guy tried to stop us but we just ignored him finally the police we called escorted us all out after half hour or so

In the 70’s I was the cheeky kid selling lucky jackpot tickets in the northeast corner of the Goldstone,
In the 80’s I had moved on the selling lucky programmes, well lucky if you got one before I sold out.
In the 90’s I was now a season ticket holder, moving around the West Stand until eventually in the Executive club (nice sarnies),
The 90’s also bought our first daughter, Charlotte Anne (thank you Julian Cope). She was registered as the youngest junior Seagull aged two minutes (someone had to do it). Hope that still stands.
The 00’s and two kids later, I had a Son to continue the legacy and we were both season ticket holders at the Withdean.
In 2006 we emigrated to Canada, two days before we flew out we went to QPR as a family on the Junior Seagull coach. Hanley didn’t know it, but he was going to be the mascot that day. Very proud moment and good memories all round.
For my 60th birthday, my wife was disappointed with the club when she asked for a birthday card from the club to me, they refused. when she fessed up to asking for it, I said you should have tried Paul Barber.
Little did I know, she followed up with a mail to Paul.
The reply was a 60th Brighton and Hove Albion birthday card, signed by pretty much all of the team last year, (our special year). This was accompanied with a nice letter from Paul, talking about his time in Canada and his Son that is in University here.
We have been away for 12 years now, I’m loving being able to watch every game this year, (never thought that would be possible), I’m torn now, still wanting to visit the Amex, but I would be so pissed if we lost (no it’s not just a game, it’s been my life and that of my family too).

I had always intended to not say anything about the 60th card, for fear they may get inundated with requests. So if Paul Barber does read this board (and I’m sure he does) please accept my apologies and thanks for something so special to me, when I couldn’t be there to witness our Special Season.

George Parris was my coach and assessor when I did my FA Coaching Badge when I ran my kids football team.

I have a work colleague who lives in Market Harborough and his wife is good friends with Leonardo Ulloas wife and his son and Leo's daughter are currently having an early-years romance!

I had a kickabout with Stuart Tuck in the mid-late nineties when I was a nipper.

I once allowed Adam El Abd to use my Video Box account to rent a DVD on the promise he returned it on time and didn't rack up a massive overdue bill like my friend Cameron did. He was a man of his word. Unlike Cameron.

I was good friends with Tommy Elphick at school and once (accidentally) Happy Gilmored a golf ball directly into the small of his back while playing Pitch and Put at Rottingdean. If it had hit his head it could have killed him. Luckily he made a full recovery.

Played stoolball against Stuart Myall. And 4 a side on the pitch next to Dodge. Terry Connor gave me a weird gonk thing with a crest on it at the kids party at some hotel in Hove. Bought my g/f car from an ex youth team player whose name escapes me.
