Your most expensive round of drinks

About £180 last Christmas for a big round of shots at our office pissup.

Less than the £17,000 a former colleague got stitched for in a strip joint in Geneva on his corporate credit card. He was summoned to the COO who told him two things were going to happen:
1. You're writing me a cheque for £17k
2. You're fired

A round of drinks and a round of shots in Revolution, Brighton for about 10 people on a friends birthday. Set me back about £85.

If going out as a group of friends we will normally chuck £20 in the kitty at the start and do drinks from that.

We did that once when entering a casino. One of the guys went off and then came back looking glum faced. "Bad news lads, the kitty has gone"

We than saw a barman bring over a bottle of champagne and all that goes with it. Idiot.

For a single round I'm not sure, probably when I bought 40 shots at a workmates leaving drinks. I had a joint leaving party with two others, we paid for everything - that wasn't pretty.

My favourite though was a friend of mine, when we were skiing in Val d'Isere (I think). We'd split into groups and when 'Turks' and I met the others at the 'Folie Douce' half way up the mountain, they were already utterly hammered. Craig was standing on a table, holding FOUR bottles of pink champagne. He fell over and smashed three of them. I couldn't get a straight answer as to how much they were as for some reason he was laughing too much.

Nowhere near £17k on Geneva strippers though

It may not have been the most expensive round, but it was certainly the biggest. Back in 1972 it was my friend's 21st birthday bash at a country pub not too far away from Henfield. It was a beautiful July evening and at exactly 6.00pm I went up to the bar, with accomplices, and ordered 72 pints of bitter. The landlord essentially shat himself but managed to do the honours. Four rustic garden tables were put together and the magic 72 pints were carefully placed down ready to be consumed.

Twenty minutes later, another trip to the bar . . . . :drink:

Probably not my most expensive round, but I am still not returning to a pub that I didn't pay £70 to, in spite of ordering a round of shots that came to that amount. I offered to pay by card, to which I had the reply that the card machine wasn't working and to hang around to pay later on. I did hang around, but drank a lot of shots, and forgot, so waddled off to a nearby club to show off my middle aged jives. The pub is rather near my work, and I plan to go back 2 years after the incident, reckoning i'll be in the clear by then. That should be in around 4 months time.

4 G & T's in the Hilton Park Lane, £75, (with some free nuts!)

Other than that a guy that "WORKED" for me, he doesn't now, spent £800 on a bottle of wine when taking a client out, needless to say the client wondered why we could afford such wine!

Also, when at a works Christmas Party I'd sent out the word that so long as everyone was sensible I'd buy the drinks, all going well until a guy comes back to the table with 30+ shots of Tequila and 30+ shots of Jager .... there were less than twenty of us! Needless to say I picked up the tab right up to the point that order was placed and nowt after! (There's always one!)

Don't you believe it. A few years ago I received a phone call from a debt collector enquiring about a gas bill left unpaid by my flat mate when he vacated the flat a week later than me - in 1979. Needless to say I feigned innocence and claimed to have been living abroad at the time

Just over £60 for four G&Ts in a very plush hotel bar in Hong Kong. The crystal glasses were beautiful and views across the city spectacular from the gents toilet though!
