my boy has done a few things like yours, at parents evening before the holidays the art teacher told us he refuses to use the colour red in art class. mrs starry thinks that is a step to far but the future is white and all that.

anywho no kids (obviously) but both my little sisters are Albion fans , the older of the two has been a fair few times (and seems to know alot of the players :s) and my youngest one is going to her first game soon-ish (Orient away probably )

Brighton, but my son is feeling sorely tested as he hasn't seen a win since the Play off final. I think he won't give up completely but the siren calls of Liverpool or St Helens RLFC may come calling........

the mrs has burnt all the photos of the kids onto discs and now i cannot find anything, but all three of them have t shirts that say "my dad says r*d is a bad word"
have also raised them to cover all scum magazines in newsagents and put any other shirt in front of them in a sports shop.

I have far too many impertinent little brats who come in the shop who live locally who support Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea or Arsenal. I do try and point out the error of their ways, saying how important it is to support their local team - their parents behind them nodding sagely while wiping kebab spit off their under-sized, over-static electricitied blue Samsung shirt.
I did have one success in pointing this out. A Luton Town supporter (from Luton) moved to Brighton recently. His two lads - about seven and five - were into Man U and Chelsea (they always pick the two top teams just to antagonise each other). I pointed out the problems, with Dad agreeing. Next time I saw them in the shop about three or four weeks later, they were both be-decked in Brighton shirts - admittedly thanks in no small part to a couple of Brighton players visiting their school. I am delighted, however, to have played a small part in turning their lives and loyalties around and making their lives a complete misery.
FWIW, I don't have kids, but I do have two nephews. One - who tend to side with his father and his side of the family - we have lost to Liverpool. The other, who is more akin to his mother's side (my sister) is a dyed-in-the-wool Brighton fan, with every aspiration of playing for the super Seagulls one day.

I have 2 developing albion supporters my littles girls second game was the 8-0 win last year - that got her convinced !
My little boys first game was against Tranmere last season - when I asked him who his favourite player was he replied " the one in black " I think he was referring to the tranmere goalie who had just saved a jake robinson shot in the last few minutes!
As long as I supply them with chips and hot choc at half time I think they will remain loyal !!

if i ever have the (pleasure?!?) of having kid(s) they wont get a choice in the matter they will be Brighton or be dis owned for life
I really tried with my son. When we visited Grandad we took him to the Goldstone. He even saw us beat Cardiff 5-0 on Boxing Day when he was only 8 years old. I took him to games in Yorkshire ie Huddersfield, Halifax, Leeds etc etc but when he was 15 (he had been to quite a few Bradford games with his mates) the Bradford fire sealed his affections. Up to that point he was just going with his mates. Fortunately that day he didn't go, but it affected his life right down to the point of becoming a fireman.

i wouldn't be that harsh i wouldn't have though
obviously i'd try my hardest to get them to support the super seagulllllls but if they want to support someone else i'd have to respect their decisions
except if it's Palace or United , then they are right on the adoption list

AT the age of 2 my lad was in the Brighton programme wearing his football strip so if he ever tries to show alegances to another team I will bring the programme out showing him in his favorite teasm strip in print. He's just three now and when I ask him what football team he like he just says Daddies team so a good start.

Remember my son saying very much the same thing when he was a toddler so we framed his first Albion shirt and it has hung on the wall over his bed ever since. Well, he's done University, got the degree and a job so will be leaving the Sussex family nest at the weekend for South London. When he started packing up his stuff the first thing that went in was................................... Don't need to say any more do I?
