Mine was either Walton and Hersham in 71/72 or it might have been Pompey away the previous relagation season when we dropped from from Division 2 after just one season.

Thugwall at the Old Den, 12 September 1964. Lost 0-2, but Albion went on to be Division 4 champions that season, with Millwall finishing second.

Back in the days when Millwall were undoubtedly the Albion's main rivals, not Palace.

The atmosphere was, shall we say, a tad intimidating....

The Albion team on that day, in good old 2-3-5 formation: Powney: Sanders, Gall: Bertolini, Upton, Turner: Gould, Collins, Bobby Smith, Jack Smith, Goodchild.

This appears to be my 100th post on NSC since July 2003. Quality not quantity over 20 years I would like to think!!

My memory of my first games isn't clear, but I'm pretty sure this was my first away game. Palace away Oct 1978. Lost 3-1

Put it this way, I was definitely at this game as a 10 year old. I remember the crushing disappointment when Hillaire scored.

Remember it well. Quite a few Albion ejected from the Holmesdale. Wardy scored for us.

16th December 1995 - Bournemouth away - won 3-0... Should never have gone ahead though. Pretty much every game got called off that day apart from ours. went on the costa express. Absolute belted down non stop all day. pitch was a lottery. jeff Minton and Junior McDougald (x2) the goal scorers... remember Jeff Minton doing a sliding tackle and sliding for 15 yards by the halfway line. comical game of football.....

Northampton away early 2000s we lost 2-0, but I had a great time as we went bowling, had a meal at the harvester and stayed in a hotel. All very exciting when you are 8 or still when you are 30 lol

Aldershot, FA Cup, 1967. A fabulous 0-0 draw!
That was also my first away game which my uncle took me too, I recall more mud than grass on the pitch and some great hot chocolate from his thermo flask- no memories of the game itself....

The worst toilets at any ground I have ever been to. Basically a windowless brick building - with a good few inches of piss on the floor because no-one really know where the wall drain was. And then at the end of the game the friendly old bill marched us about a mile uphill in the wrong direction from the station, so we missed the first train home as well.

But, as you say - we won!
