Palace '77. Muppet of a steward sent us to the wrong end. Escorted down the pitch to the away supporters, under a hail of loose change. Met police started trouble by laying into a Brighton fan. Sunday Mirror published a picture with the face of violence of said supporter being wrestled by six uniformed thugs officers. They didn't show the copper throwing the punches into the unsuspecting lad causing it to kick off.
Swore I'd never go to that shithole again....the parking was easy tho

9th September 1961, a 3-2 win at Charlton. 2 goals from Laverick and 1 from Nicholas. I was 14 and entrusted to the care of an older cousin who was on holiday from Scotland. He was a football nut then, and still is today. My main remembrance of the game is our left back (David Smith) virtually rugby tackling the winger to stop him.

I think it was away to Cardiff, September 2001. Aged 15 with my Dad.
Also my first season with a season ticket. Fond memories of being kept in the ground for nearly 2 hours after final whistle while the locals dispersed. And just as we thought it was safe to walk back to the car we were approached by a carful of Welsh lads, one of whom had a baseball bat, and told in no uncertain terms to F off back to England
Tomorrow will be my first away game for a while, really looking forward to it.

Mine was at Fulham in the Freddie Goodwin era, so probably 1969-70 season.

We got hammered 5-1. It poured with rain and we weren't in it. Our lingering hopes of promotion were extinguished.

Bobby Smith (mark 2) was outstanding but nobody else.

Of course a couple of years later we were promoted under Pat Saward, with 12 away wins in the season, so it was much more fun watching away games then.

For the life of me I can't remember the year, it was mid 70's, Boxing Day away to Pompey. We lost 1-0, Sammy Morgan played and it was freezing cold and pouring with rain, really glad I went to that one!

Hereford March/April 1976. Saw Fred Binney outside the ground and told him to bang in a few: he scowled and didn't look at all happy. Discovered he'd been dropped in favour of some kid called Peter Ward ... whatever happened to him?

Said kid scored in first minute and we drew 1-1 in our promotion fight. That heralded a little run of away games as I went to Aldershot and Millwall over Easter - losing 3-1 at the Den and losing all hope of promotion. Went to quite a few away games the following season as I had a taste for it by then

16th December 1995 - Bournemouth away - won 3-0... Should never have gone ahead though. Pretty much every game got called off that day apart from ours. went on the costa express. Absolute belted down non stop all day. pitch was a lottery. jeff Minton and Junior McDougald (x2) the goal scorers... remember Jeff Minton doing a sliding tackle and sliding for 15 yards by the halfway line. comical game of football.....

11th February 1995….had to check this as I remember the score and getting absolutely soaked, but I definitely didn’t remember it being on 16th December as it’s my birthday
