Greenall Shitley Mild at 25p a pint in local club when 16. Seem to recall a Case of Newcastle Brown got raided that Christmas as well.

To celebrate O-Levels downed a bottle of Bells whisky, honked it back all over hall carpet and haven't been a spirits drinker since!

I probably had a sip of wine or beer at an early age, but the first I remember is one of those little Biere Des Moulins bottles at a New Years Eve party aged about 13, with my parents' blessing.

Whitehawk pub 1973.
Five pints of mild for a quid or four pints of lager for same price. I was earning ten pounds a week fffffsake!
My dad used to be given some vodka from Polish truck drivers, arriving on the overnight ferries from Dieppe into Newhaven.
Bloody strong stuff.

At the tender age of seven! Yes, I had a bottle of Guinness for helping my Dad stock up the bar. Having retired from the RAF he decided on becoming a publican. His philosophy was that if you were introduced to booze in your early years you wouldn’t binge drink later on. It was bollocks, of course, but wonderful bollocks! Aside from knocking back the Guinness I was treated to a glass of red wine (usually a Beaujolais or a Cotes du Rhone) with every Sunday lunch.

A good school of life lesson there - and an enjoyable one too!

Waiting for a 1901 member to say they had Moet poured on their rusks

I lied. My last year at Moulscoomb school we went to Einseldine in Switzerland. We hid bottles of beer in a horse trough and drank them watching Jeux Sans Frontiers (It's a Knockout) in a bar. We got caught by a teacher and spent the next day walking in the mountains without our belts and braces. 1972

Apart from my uncle giving a sip of German beer, when I was about four.
I was initiated on perno and black at our school Christmas party, which I decorated someones hedge  on way home.
What was your first alcoholic beverage

Without parents consent, it was probably Fosters.

No more romantic than that I’m afraid.

Prior, remember being given glasses of Woodpecker cider aged 8 or 9 on Norfolk Broads. Made us fall asleep, deliberately so!! Hated taste of my Dads Pale Ale in those black cans with light blue band top and bottom. Couldn’t understand how anyone could drink beer. How times changed!!

Not sure of first actual alcoholic drink but the first time I got absolutely shitfaced was on a wonderful combination of the American bastardisation of Budweiser and vodka and orange at a 4 July party after a local American Football derby between the Crawley Raiders and the Brighton B52s.

The game was at Withdean. I was around about 15 years old and my mate from school was 6 foot and plenty, well over 15 stone of muscle and already trained with the adult team. We had a simple deal. He got the beers in (it was a private party and in any case he would have towered over any coppers present), I drank them, everyone laughed at me falling over. I believe his brother posts on here.

On the way home I decorated the outside of a taxi (my delighted dad had to pay), our toilet floor (I had to clear it up) and spent the next day suffering with alcohol poisonng alternating between the back garden (for fresh air) and the Kermit. Finally started eating again on Monday night and didn't touch booze again for six months.

Hungarian Bulls Blood wine. My parents had a party, I was 16 and the barman was impressed with my drinking capacity. It all ended up with a massive projectile vomit on the carpet. Never touched red wine since.

What does the former have to do with the latter?

Watney's Special, 17P a pint, Mill House, Portslade, 1973
Vodka and Lime, The Dome, (Genesis), 1973

Long hair and an army greatcoat covered a multitude of shortcomings, especially in the legal drinking age department, to the tune of 3 years

Pretty sure we've had this thread before ???

Other than illicit tasting as a nosey kid of my Dad’s pale ale, Scotch, gin, Harveys ..... all yuk ... hated the taste. Might also have bought a couple of cans of warm lager with a mate when a young teen .... also yuk.

It was cider, probably Strongbow or Woodpecker. We had a BBQ gathering when I was 15, my best friend and I were allowed to try it and bloody hell, it was lovely as was the merry effect. I remember us racing off to the off licence to buy more for the party.

Mine was a half of lager at any party the family had, we had quite a few, around 13 years old.
Just been to the greene king brewery today and this is on the wall in the cafe. All ages 3 times a day. Anyone still around from then? [emoji6]

Actually I lied like SIMMO SAYS (evening, squire).

When we were about 14 my pal Andy M brewed his own. We played snooker on his miniature table and drank home brew on a regular basis, while listening to his West Coast music collection (Beach Boys, Doors, etc.).

Also, school trip to Germany around the same time (1972?) it was possible to buy ciccies from a vending machine on the street (Peter Stuyversant) and beer in a supermarket, no questions asked. I seem to recall being held back when attempting to climb overboard later (it was a Rhine cruise; cost my parents a tenner, a small fortune for the old man back then).

Never touched a drop since.

I prefer red wine these days.

Not so long ago we may well have had an informative intervention from BG (RIP) at this point.

I had a heavy army greatcoat in 1973 riding around on my brand new Yamaha 175 trail bike.
When it got wet I could hardly move in it.
It is the reason I suffer from a multitude of ailments now :moo:

When mine got wet the moisure revived the BO of the poor ******* whose coat it once was, toiling for king or queen and country in some far flung battlefield.

That's what I told myself at the time, anyway.
