I enjoyed all three series though as you say the third was lower quality. I thought it was a well thought out idea and some of the family get togethers were really well observed. Smithy always made me chuckle when he entered the family home. Brynn and the Essex mum were the best characters for me.

Rob Brydon always raises a chuckle and I like it when he is on QI.

Rob Brydon live was excellent.

He spent most of the set interacting with the audience and improv-ing. He then rounded off the act with a song that incorporated almost everything he had spoken about with the audience.

With you totally on this. The third series, if not shit, has been a very noticeable dip in quality from previous series, unfortunately a result of the show's mainstream success I think. Some of the situations (ie. going to the beach, having a curry) looked like they'd totally run out of ideas which is pretty ridiculous considering 19 episodes is hardly a long time for a sitcom to run.

Uncle Bryn, over the show's run, is easily my favourite character, although even he, in the third series was in danger of becoming far too much. Even at the end though he still had the best lines, in the last episode the thing about Keizer Soze and the "Oh heck" line when Dave says Nessa doesn't love him were by far the two funniest moments of the episode (perhaps the ONLY funny moments!).

I've never seen Curb but Arrested Development was CLASS! So annoyed it got cancelled, although the makers are the same people behind Modern Family (which I havent got round to watching yet) so got that to look forward to (hopefully)

i put Bryn for obvious reasons, but it was more of a tie with Mick, cos Mick is a legend.

altho i enjoyed it whenever Smithy came into their house (robotting etc etc) altho his character is really a complete prick

3rd series went pretty downhill, no idea why either.

Nessa & Bryn are the show stealer, but there are some great minor characters too. Loved Rudi in her Heelys, and Pete & Dawn too.

Oh and of course Gavin's Mum: "Are you eatin' ham Pam?". "Oh! Forsake me not, my child!".
