Kuta beach in Bali where i learned to surf is my favourite,
but the best ive been too, maybe Borocay in the Philippines or pick any in the yasawa islands in Fiji

as for brighton, the promenade is great, the beach is not good and the water is too dirty!

I would have voted for Diniwid Beach on Boracay, one bay north of white beach, but a quick Google search tells me they've built resort hotels and hooked up the electricity since i was there 14 years ago in a bamboo shack for 100 pesos a night.

I think I'll leave it as a pleasant memory.
