This coming Saturday...
I'm Bradley Gibbs and so is my wife. There’s a coincidence we went in a cortina too but I’m not Bradley Gibbs
Same here. That Peterborough game on seagull coach and the snow. The Liverpool match a year later in 1984
Oh, and the Peterborough United away match in 1986. My toes are still thawing out.
Possibly my favourite two minutes of football ever. That anticipatory roar when Connor was put through still gives me goosebumps.
Youngsters have no idea what 'limbs' mean.
And today, kick-off would have been delayed by five minutes whilst they over-celebrated and then a long VAR check for offside.....
Yes, I'm going to say Peterborough. Not really my out-and-out favourite, (I can't pick one but the Liverpool victories were good), but why do so many of us think it was memorable, even good? By no stretch of the imagination can Peterborough away be described as a 'glamour' fixture (they were in the division below us as well iirc), we didn't win and the weather was appalling - so what is it? We can't even say "Well it was 'proper' football with terraces", as it was the 80s and all games were still 'proper' football with terraces as the Taylor Report hadn't been implemented yet.Same here. That Peterborough game on seagull coach and the snow.
The sad part being that neither of these games have television footage, so the Albion youth of today will never be able to marvel at Mr Nelson’s goal.Indeed, and funny enough the other one that came straight to mind was the previous round away at Northampton
The Seagulls Special train for me, great day. As was Liverpool 1991 and Nelson at Brentford 1987. Hull away prior to Peterborough was fun, we basked in the sun and their fans shivered in the shade on two sides of the ground.Same here. That Peterborough game on seagull coach and the snow.

The FG with Barnes in his pocket and a goal from Byrne on his comeback from injury game to go with a Small goal? What a strike pair those two were. A definite high spot of Albion Cup games for me.Anfield in 91 when we came back from 2-0!
Our end went apesh*t!
I think that was the game that a Newcastle fan asked us if Spanish Dave (?) was still rolling around the next morning, after going down and making an absolute meal of a Newcastle foulI loved Will Buckley's goal v Newcastle in 2012. The start of something.

Probably a good thing. I suspect that some of it was the odd niggle of the game, big away crowd, where we were at and so on. If we saw the goal on telly now, we might not think it was as great as we all remember. Some things are best left in our memories only! The sad part being that neither of these games have television footage, so the Albion youth of today will never be able to marvel at Mr Nelson’s goal.![]()
