I'd like to say it's Marquee Moon, Pink Flag, Talking Heads:77, Heroes or Low.

But it's actually 'The Stranger', Billy Joel.

Interestingly, Zappa, Beefhart, no releases in 77.

However, of the old wave, there was this cracker (from Foreign Affairs):

I was 6 in July '77 , I still listen to the same blindingly good albums my parents subjected me to in Exodus, new boots and panties, and 'book of dreams'. There are plenty of others from '77 which I discovered later, but these stand out personally.

I think that in 1977, I'd have said The Clash but the two from that era that I still listen to the most are Exodus and Low, The latter is superb, by far my favourite Bowie album
