Best of 1990 to date:

Hart
Neville-Adams-Butcher-Cole
Waddle-Robson-Gerrard-Scholes
Beardsley
Lineker

You'd be better off just putting the entire 1990 team in! By far the best team in recent memory i reckon, i had the pleasure of going to Italy that year...we really could and probably should of won, or at least reached the final...great memories indeed!

Rose tinted spectacles?

We were average in the group stages and lucky to qualify after a win against a poor Egypt side.

We scraped past Belgium in extra time and we beat Cameroon when they should have beaten us.

The only reason why we progressed as far as we did was because Bobby Robson(who was under pressure at the time prior to the tournament) was forced into playing the sweeper system due to injuries and we got lucky as no one knew how to play against our defence!

Now '96 was different....

yeah, because we weren't lucky in 96 at all was we?....Crap in the first game, lucky against the Jocks, very lucky against Spain. Let's face it, we are just not very good anymore and have a very average bunch of players. We don't attack sides like others do and we are going to try and do well in this tournament by playing smash and grab football. Great stuff!!

I'd be tempted to play Walcott through the middle as a striker in a 4-4-2

Hart
Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole
Milner, Gerrard, Parker, Young
Walcott, Carroll
