For me it has to be Kieran O Reagan, when he broke into the side in 1983 he was shit hot, I know he had his fair share of bad luck but I felt he clearly underachieved before departing the Goldstone.

No chance. O'Regan was quality. Pretty much my favourite Albion player of his time.

I vote David Livermore. We were rubbish at the time, and for the first time in about ten years, we signed a player I had actually HEARD of. A player with hundreds of appearances at a higher level.

And he turned out to be utter gash.

There have been a few disappointing big money signings. Perhaps Barry Bridges, Teddy Maybank and Mickey Thomas deserve a mention.

Barry Bridges actually did a good job for Brighton from the start of January 1974 to the end of the season, and probably did as much as anyone to preserve the club's Third Division status. However, at the start of the New Year, Clough had already decided to ditch him when the season ended.

But yes, all of this fine form was about a year and half late!

Sorry Ninja, wasn't two own goals but it was a pathetic pass back to their player and then an awful own goal in the first 10 mins which frankly is the worst individual performance I have ever seen in a Brighton shirt... AND I was at Walsall when Livermore was repeatedly destroyed at Left Back (comes a close 2nd)

There were probably worse performances in the Gillingham days, but those 2 stand out because we weren't awful every game at that point...

Oh and add Craig Davies at MK Dons to that list, although the abuse he got was out of order.

And yes I do realise I haven't answered the question, just mention of those two put me off on a tangent - my answer would be Vicente... Most talented player by miles to pull on the shirt, and occasional flashes of brilliance still left us wanting more...

This was the first time I took my son (12 at the time) to an away game. What possessed him to watch another 150 odd games till he got bored at around 16 is a mystery. Oh, Zamora, back to back championships - forgot about that - Lol! Thomas really was the complete end, though. Remember the game at Gillingham when he lets someone run from behind him to score? Worst piece of defending in the history of the game. If he ever comes on here (unlikely): Glenn, you were a disgrace.
