Tennis - Chris Bradnam. Easily the best tennis commentator out there, has one of those voices that you could simply listen to for hours.

Snooker - big fan of the Thorne & Virgo combo.

Big Ron with Marcel Dessaily would certainly be interesting

Clive Tyldsley, the man who was with Atkinson when he made those comments, was a guest speaker at our uni not long ago. When the incident was brought up he said that he believed the two would actually have got on very well if Atkinson hadn't made those comments. However because of them the two never had the chance to work together obviously.

Barry Davies.

Oh I say! Cheeky stuff, cheeky stuff... :clap2:

A big  to Charlie Cox too (who does the MotoGP thang with Stavros Parrish). Love his oh-so-regular use of the term: "That's shot the fox". Marvelous.

If you want really good commentators you have to go back a LONG way, when I were a lad.

John Arlott.
Harry Carpenter.
Brian Johnston
Eddie Wairing
The tennis bloke whose name I forgot. You know, the one who used to say "Oh, I say!"

Stuart Hall = Absolute legend :bowdown:the way he can summarise a game. Always normally dealt with Man City games in the past, probably had plenty of material to work with

As football commentators go:

Barry Davies - so good at whatever event he used to commentate on, and nothing better when he got really excited about a goal.

Brian Moore - purely sentimental, because so much of his voice is behind some of the best sporting moments I remember whilst growing up. He was also superb in going from deep and serious to high-pitched and enthusiastic.

Guy Mowbray - best of the new batch of commentators, barring the punnery.

Away from football:

Murray Walker - Motor Racing has never been as good since he retired.

Simon Holt - The sharpest and most observant Horse Racing commentator ever.

Peter Alliss - Makes Golf much more easy to watch.

and the best of all...

er, Peter Cook :jester:
