The Fatherland
...and I recommend this Ariel Pink Haunted Graffiti album. Lo-fi psych synth pop most of the time......some great hooks and harmonies amongst the other stuff.

I've really enjoy the albums by the following artists:

The Worlds Tallest Man
Joanna Newsom
f*** Buttons
Hot Chip
Animal Collective (EP)
Four Tet
Titus Andronicus
Errors
Fang Island
Gonjasufi
The Morning Benders
The National
Crystal Castles

And some of Bozza's list as well, which is a great summary so far.

Hahaha.

Buzzer.

Trust me, you really wouldn't want Bozza's list....

1. The best of Lionel Ritchie....

Still in Brighton
i've struggled to find stuff i like recently, for example i'm bored by The National, who seem to be on a downward curve - loved Alligator, thought Boxer was ok and the new one is just...dull.

was really looking forward to the new Yeasayer too, as the debut is fantastic, but finding that a bit m'eh.

However, i LOVE the latest White Rabbits, Broken Bells self titled (tend to always listen to anything involving Danger Mouse, this album is a real grower) and The Black Keys new one is their best yet. They are the three stand outs for me.
Gorillaz is a good 'un too, probably their best imo.

As no one came back with their comments, I'll add mine now I've listened to them all (while writing)

I havent downloaded anything for aboslutely ages.. the last was the splendid Mumford and Sons and Biffy Clyros new one.

However, after browing an dlistening to samples on Amazon Im tonight downloading the following.. what do the NSC music gurus think?

The Gaslight Anthem - American slang - YES...probably the best of the lot
Paulo Nuttini - Sunny Side Up :annoyed: Disappointing..... Bo Marley / James Brown rip-off
Florence and the Machine - Lungs - GOOD BUT PREFER MALE SINGERS
Pendulum - Immersion - AWFUL!!! LOW GRADE PRODIGY
Stornoway - Beachcomber's Windowsill - NOT HEARD YET (OOPS)
Scouting for Girls - Everyone wants to be on TV - PAP!!:annoyed:
Train - save me san Francisco - OH DEAR... BACK TO DROPS OFJUPITER
Owl City - Ocean Eyes - FUNNY...TOO SYRUPY BUT LISTENABLE
30 seconds to Mars - This is war - AVERAGE ROCK NOT BAD NOT GOOD
Breaking Benjamin - Dear Agony AS ABOVE

Bought Codeine and Laura Marling.

Struggling to like the former but think it might be a grower. Already loving the latter after two hearings.

Thanks for the tips chaps.

PS Sully - listen to Sornoway - a complete classic.

Just got:

The Phantom Band 'Wants'

Really good, would not be surprised to see it in the 'best of' lists at the end of the year.

After the first few listens, I've got to say that this follow-up to last year's ace 'Checkmate Savage' is a massive leap forward.
It's retained the substance and soul of the last album, but smoothed off some of the rough edges, they have evolved as pretty decent songwriters. There's a terrific folk quirkiness to it, but they also know how to hit a groove.

Few bands around are this inventive.

If you have not come across them before, give 'em a try, you won't be disappointed.

It's a brilliant album, I was lucky enough to see them at The Great Escape last year and they are a wonderful live band.
