I've also just got that Ariel Pink album courtesy of them wonderful chaps at Rounder. It's been getting some great reviews. It will be going on the player shortly.

Oh, and biggest wank fest of the year has to be the Neu! box set. I saw it in Rounder yesterday.......£120.................... I've got that devil and angel shoulder thing going on......

Not a bad way to celebrate I suppose.

*jealous*

Ha, yeah. I saw the date and just thought f**k it. We're holidaying (well, honeymooning to be precise) in Ibiza now

As an aside I was listening to Radio 6 last week and they had an interview with Matt Lawrence (I think this is his name, plays for Palace but captained Millwall in the Cup Final). I caught my ear as I was messing about in the kitchen. He was talking about music and boy does he know his stuff. He lives in Brighton, was banging on about various venues he goes to like the Freebutt. He still buys the NME and he did The Great Escape and reckons he goes to a gig a week and hoovers up CDs like their going out of fashion. He even brought some of his vinyl along and spoke with a boyish enthusiasm about it. And a nice self-deprecating edge was nice to hear from a footballer.

The Four Tet album just about edges out Hot Chip for me.

Also rans are Joanna Newsom and LCD Soundsystem (took a few listens that did). Agree with Buzzer that the Vampire Weekend album really is a let down, after 3 or 4 listens it just GRATES. Sounded a lot better live than on record.

Having heard a few tracks of it I'll stick my neck out and say the upcoming Skream album will be up there too.
When's the new Skream album out then? I hear he's got La Roux to lend some vox as payback for that awesome In For The Kill remix he did for her.....

The Drums, The Courteeners, Delphic, Laura Marling.

I saw Delphic live and they didnt do it for me. Sorry, very few bands weld dance and rock together successfully...and these 3 clean white guys in accountancy get-up do not do it.

I tried to like them, bought their album..saw them live but it really didnt work for me.

same here, have taken up heaps of Dephic's admirably offered up free downloads these past 6 months or so but am rather underwhelmed frankly - especially when the first thing I read about them sugegsted they were channeling New Order!

It's been a cracking year for albums thus far, and almost everything I was going to suggest has already been mentioned in this thread:

Caribou - Swim
Four Tet - There Is Love In You
The Black Keys - Brothers
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
White Rabbits - It's Frightening
Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record
Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (II)
Beach House - Teen Dream
Hot Chip - One Life Stand
LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening

I'm going to add these three belters:

Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM
The Strange Boys - Be Brave
Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History

Took a while before Marina was mentioned, but glad she did - great album.

Mixed feelings about Gorillaz Plastic Beach - sometimes I like it, other times I can't stand it.

1 album I don't think is mentioned which is worth a listen;

Groove Armada - Black Light - awesome sound (2010)

And one to watch out for this year - which will be bigger than Kele, is Hurts.

Best two for me so far are
Goldfrapp - Head First
Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM
Have also got Marina & Diamonds - Family Jewels but still trying to work out how much I really like it

This thread has given lots of ideas as to where to go next and alerted me that theres albums by the Fall and Black Keys out that i've not yet heard. Must have more of a listen to Crystal Castles
