You Tube Conversion To MP3

I have an apple PC so can someone suggest how easy it is to convert a You Tube video to an MP3 format or am I being stupid and it cannot be done ?

I think it is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it due to the poor quality that youtube videos are broadcast in. I would torrent any songs you want.

Can you get Chrome on a mac? if so there's an add on which lets you download YouTube videos in any format including mp3, on the video screen page. That's how I do it

Not youtube related but I just turned up GetEd2k, which is compatible for emule and others. Not sure yet if this one is the mutts, but if anyone tries it out and has success. then let us know

There are loads for Firefox as well. Just go to Tools > Add ons > search for youtube to mp3

Does keepvid.com work on a Mac. You just paste the youtube link in and select MP3. Runs on Java I think.

put 'save' in the youtube url just before (http://www.saveyoutube.com) and it will give the option to save it in a number of formats.

Loads of firefox add-ons will rip the video (and audio) from Youtube (and I'm sure the other browsers have their equivalents) and then there are lots of free programs that will split the audio and visual segements of a video.

A simple google search for "rip youtube video" and "split audio from video" should yield suitable free software which is good enough for a one-off exercise.


I'm assuming of course that this isn't copyrighted material... (if it is, why would you try to rip from such a poor quality source... get the original!)

If you have Google Chrome you can download a extension which makes it really easy, search "YouTube to MP3" into the chrome store
