Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere in the thread, I'm just being lazy to read back through. But forget who the Albion's best 11 are, who are the Albion's ultimate 7 fighting the opposition in the tunnel. The "Magnificent Seven" you could say.
I shall go with;
Carpenter
Case
Cullip
Horton
Kraay
Oatway
Rougvie

It'll be a rather centre back heavy list.

TBH anyone not a centre back who makes the Ultimate 7 list has done bloody well for themselves!!

Veltman had a reputation in Holland for being quite the smiling assassin. I'd include him

Very surprised it's taken this long for someone to mention him - probably our hardest defender, I reckon. Definitely got that air about him.

I think its natural that it will be centre backs heavy. But I think it's not just about being tough on the pitch but fighting the opposition in the tunnel.

I know that El-Abd was very quiet off pitch and someone I know who had dealings with him described Ashley Barnes as 'quite shy'

It's obviously the quiet buggers you have to watch
AEA has to be on the shortlist for a place in the:-

ULTIMATE 7.

I can’t dispute your choices, they are all before my time! Except Aspinall who I did have the pleasure of watching. I remember one particular outing of his when the players had to cross that bridge from the changing rooms to the pitch at withdean. As they emerged for the second half the rest of the team (in my memory) ran across the the pitch. Aspinall followed way behind, seemed to be limping and out of breath from the exertion. I’ve liked him ever since! But he certainly wouldn’t have made my seven on that occasion!

So as requested by Motogull, the usual questions as the window is thrown open, based on how the squad finished:-

Where are we now?

Do we need strengthening? YES, always.

BDB
Biss

This seems like a worryingly lightweight line-up. Most of those seem like genuinely nice people - I can't imagine that BDB would hurt a fly. Besides Andone (obviously) and Maupay (possibly), I don't think any of them would have got into any of our League One or early Championship squads.

I suppose you can only play what's in front of you and these lads would clearly have no problem with the likes of Man City or Arsenal but I would genuinely fear for them if it kicks off against Burnley or even The Leeds; Cup runs will be very dangerous territory.

I wouldn't have put BDB so high, but he'll just put a hand on their forehead, hold them at arm's length and give them the occasional slap. Veltman is utterly and completely Psycho, and have you seen the way Sanchez looks at his own teammates when he's happy ? Imagine him upset

You are absolutely 100% correct, without a shadow of doubt in my mind - but you're also very wrong!

A quick reminder of the brief.

This isn't about some handbags down 'Spoons, with a couple of windmilling Stone Island clad wannabes.

This is The Albion they're rucking for.
This is respecting the club, the badge, the shirt, the owner, the Stripes - Your team mates.

Andone (he's a bit special as the criteria doesn't apply, but there's no way it's happening without him)

Dunk should never be below 2nd on the list.
Sanchez ain't backing down.
Neither is Veltman (good call)
Gross
Webster
Maupay.

Biss.

March
White

But let's be honest they're only involved so the older boys don't give them a hard time afterwards.
