So if he cares about the FA Cup, why does he take off two first team players and replace with Development Squad, just after Wrexham have equalised. I have got the impression in both the last two seasons that we got through by accident. Last season the half and half team resulted in a replay at Woking, and was the start of a bad run. He may say he cares in interviews, but actions speak louder than words.
We got through to the 4th round in 2010 and the 5th round in 2011 by accident? I wish some of our former managers had had accidents like that. When we drew to Woking and FC United (as often happens in Cup matches all over the country) he said that the team he put out should have been more than capable of beating non league opposition. Gus demands high standards of the reserves/development squad if they ever want to break into the senior team. The players let him down and had to go to a replay, but don't kid yourself that it happened by accident.

The one and only time I have seen Newcastle play was at Portsmouth a few years ago. I sat in the away end with the toon and thought the fans were amazing! Micheal Owen and obifimi martins got the goals for an away win, tony Adams was in charge of Pompey. Will always remember everyone stuffed in the toilets at half time for a ciggie and the Pompey stewards barging in and removing the oldest, most frail fan and ejecting him from the stadium! Hope we beat Wrexham as it will be a cracking atmosphere!

Only time I've seen the Toon play was in the FA Cup semi final in 2000, when Chelsea beat the 2-0 with two goals from a certain Uruguyan midfielder!

Very frustrated by the game on Saturday- I hope the players get more fired up for the return, a few of them didn't seem up for it, Barnes in particular although whats new there.

Having to watch CMS and Bridcutt warming up whilst the game slipped away, could have been avoided I think. Some promising displays from youth team however, JFC is/will be class.

Trelford Mills is my hero !

...he's also a very nice man, a passionate Barnsley supporter who was at the Amex a couple of months ago. He was so overwhelmed by our performance that he tried to get off the supporters' club coach when it stopped near his house, forgetting he'd parked his car at the ground.

It may be true of Gus demainding high standards from the Development squad, but that is still who they are. He played depleted sides in all those games, and has never convinced me he wants to be in the competition, right from our first labours against Woking at the Withers. He uses it much like the Premiership teams do unless they are playing each other, as a Cup for the Reserves.

On Saturday, Wrexham scored and he immediately brought on two more Development players, and many of his comments have been about people getting injured for the league. Gus thinks the cup is something annoying that gets his players injured for the main competition - i.e. the league. I think he would be happy if we didn't have to play cup matches at all.

Absolutely! We only need another six or seven wins to stay up, thanks to our wonderful start. Let's give the Geordies a chance to visit the Amex!

Only 5, maybe 6 at a push. Only 3 times in the last 15 years have teams been relegated with 50+ points.
