A recently passed young driver wrote my car off in Sainsbury’s car park a year or so back. I felt sorry for the young chap as his insurance must be horrendous now.

They're the ones who worry me. Inexperienced drivers. They may have to pass a written test and show on the day of the test they can be safe, but let them loose and give it a few months and .....
Not all new drivers are like that, but it's best to treat every other road user like they're an idiot. That includes cyclists, pedestrians, animals etc.

Pedestrians that just turn onto a zebra crossing without giving any warning and expect you to stop in a second 🙄

OK, so a learner is trying to park a car and puts a scratch in your car. Changed your mind?
Also, is it a free car park, guess not by the signage, so do they pay to enter?
We get lots of learners down our large estate, at least four at any one time. Firstly they drive very slowly so you get stuck behind them then the instructor tells them to do a 7 point turn on the main exit road thus blocking said road. I'd accept the odd one or two drivers but so many is crazy.

I don't know why they're bothering with '7 point turns' as turn in the road (whether 3,4 or 7 point) hasn't been in the driving test for nearly a decade

I think this is very mean.
But is it enforceable?

We all had to start somewhere and this is a safe place to learn, I think.

There are three cars in total in that car park right now. Why not let Learners in?

Or are they a menace?

Discuss…
No it's not

It is a bit mean. I'd imagine it's quite difficult to prove that it was an instructor & a learner though. They could just say 2 people are insured on the car & they were going shopping or wherever the sign is. I think you're more likely to have your car donked by a new driver than a learner or an older driver like my FIL who's been 'driving for years' & never had an accident. Which 'touch wood' he hasn't, but his driving is appalling a lot of posts seem to jump into the sides of his car!!

Tbh by the time my son manages to get a test date he'll probably be 75. Driving test appointments are released weekly 26 weeks in advance. 6am on a Mon morn when the slots open there were 14.775 people in front (you pick the test centre when you get to the front). Strangely enough, 40 mins later there were no tests at Burgess Hill or Worthing available in the next 26 weeks. By which time I'll be bankrupt from the lessons & won't be able to afford the 'actual' test anyway!

Talking of parking….what the hell was that all about tonight At the UNI?

stewards reckoned they oversold it….i missed first 10 minutes having finally parked way past the main car park, past the top road, off to the right…..at the back of the UNI. Bloody long walk to the ground . Loads of cars circling around and parking on disabled bays and double yellows.

one group of Bournemouth fans in three cars asked me where they paid for the car park. I said it was APR covered and you could only get tickets via the Albion web site…..£90 fine per car coming up

luckily parking there means for way pretty quickly though
