Yorkie Bars

Ive just popped out to the shop and decided to purchase some confectionary to eat with my Ryevita and diet carrot juice. I dont often peruse the chocolate bars these days but did notice how expensive they are.

What struck me most was that yorkie bars are now only a bit more expensive than your usual run of the mill bars of chocolate (mars, marathons etc etc). I am sure that when I was a boy Yorkie bars were much more expensive than the everyday bars of chocolate mentioned above. A good 10 or 15p if memory serves, putting them financially out of reach for oiks like myself (whether some would accidentally fall into your paper round bag is another matter).

Am I right in thinking this or have I imagined it? Have yorkies come down in price to be nearer to the other bars or have the other bars gone up?

Not that it matters really, just wondering.

Oh and I got a raison and biscuit one. Sorry for not starting a thread first or doing a poll, but there was a queue.

Almond was my favourite. A truly superb bar, but clearly I was alone in thinking so, as it vanished from production after a couple of years..

Horrible chicolate - skool boy error IMHO.

And yes, they did used to be at the premium end of the choc bar prices - but now they all seem to be. Go into your average garage forecourt and they can be 70p for a bar of choccy. Insane.

He's right, Yorkie's are pony. Dairy Milk is the way forward - plain, caramel or fruit & nut. They all work.

Ahhh yes, but there is a good reason for the reasonable price. Have you seen the size of them compared to when they first hit the market?.

Seems that Cadbury, rather than increasing the price over the years, have regularly been DECREASING the size.

Or is that simply because when l was a kid everything looked so much bigger? lol.

What has happened to Yorkie bars? I don't see them about very often now. They were and still are expensive and the easter eggs boxes were in the shape of a lorry I seem to remember, used to keep them all.

They put Yorkies in ration packs now. Remember when they used to say "Not for Girls" on them? The Ration Pack ones say "Not for Civvies"!

Great to see Treets in there. Reminds me of one of my favourite jokes.....

Man goes to his doctor with a peanut stuck in his left ear.
"What can I do to get it out?" he asks pathetically.
The doctor takes a look, and says "Pour warm chocolate in the right ear and tilt your head."
"How on Earth will that help?" asks the bewildered patient.
"Easy", replies the Doc, "When the chocolate cools it should come out a Treet....."

Im still fuming that the Kit Kat Chunky Peanut butter and Kit Kat Chunky Caramel are being discontinued. The best chocolate bars by a county mile
