Yet more NHS failure

Some people have had fantastic care, others have had terrible care. I had a possible case against NHS in the way in which they handled my fathers case. A lack of communication between hospitals and departments made my fathers condition worse. My father passed away in 2004, I was so exhausted with it all it didn't take it up. It's a long story.

Farage is right, so I can relate to what he says, when he says go private he is probably correct. There are too many people using the NHS now, and there is not enough money going back in to pay for it.

Going private does not guarantee that the care you get will be better, although I suspect that the odds are better. The problem with the NHS is that age old one - medical advances and increased population means that more people than ever expect more from it. Something has to give eventually.

What a repellent little **** he is. Didn't include the 'Indian doctor' in that report though did it? Bloody left BBC.
NHS saved my dad's life 3 years back. Currently doing their very best to save my brother's. It's something worth fighting for. If you're in Shoerham/East Worthing : http://nhap.org/carl-walker/

To put a bit more balance on this, Labour were the ones who started the back door privatisation, the Tories have just continued it.

Personally, I have no objection provided the quality and outcomes in terms of care are improved, and the individuals undertaking surgery/treatment are subject to peer review and submit their data to national audits.

This is the truth. The problem with privatisation in the NHS is that it is seen primarily as a means of saving money and not of enhancing or improving service quality. In order to work properly privatised services must be unambiguously and clearly specced in the first place, the assessment of who wins the contract must be made by people who know enough about the service concerned to take informed decisions, there needs to be clearly stated and easily monitored quality control measures built into contracts and the contracts have to be properly monitored. Non of these things happen. Services are privatised and the NHS pretty much then wipes its hands of them and forgets about them until its time for the contract tp be renewed.

And yet again, the incorrect use of the word privatisation. Slag off the policies by all means but will people bloody well learn to use the correct words please :censored::tantrum::rant:

Anything hived off that was in the public sector is privatisation , calling it by another name to make it sound better is incorrect.

And you don't think the ones were before?

Of course they were, there were plenty examples of diagnostic tests (particularly) being farmed out to other companies for profit. Businesses would not take the work just to break even.

As per my original post, before any treatment surgical outcomes, mortality, readmission and complication rates should be discussed.

They were in it for a decent profit , the new companies are a different breed out to extract even more blood from a stone. This is the beginnings of a two tier national health service.

I don't disagree, but this was started by Labour and continued by the Tories, which constantly seems to be forgotten. For me as (unfortunately) a regular patient, outcome is everything. If private companies can offer an improvement on NHS then why not?

The irony is, that most private providers will use NHS consultants in any case.
