Everyone knows that representative democracy isn't working for any of us, the main parties don't have the answers, but we should all be looking left, not far-right.

Yes, but that would involve looking after each other rather than just ourselves.

might involve people being pissed off with the right people too. Watched The Wolf of Wall Street and Capitalism A Love Story.

Wall Street: What exactly does it do?

I remember being told that Communism failed because of human frailty and greed, it seems to me that capitalism is going the same way!

Congratulations you found some weirdos

Well if you (for example) want to re-nationalise the Rail, Mail and other recently privatised institutions then none of the 3 main parties have it as a policy, so which non weirdos have your political ear at the moment?

Re-nationalisation is policy the BNP are committed to, maybe they are more up your boulevard?

Pass as many laws as you like it won't stop people from being people...

..and some people are racist and some people are homophobic.

So we should put up with it? People have always killed other people - Shall we get rid of the murder charge? It obviously isn't working!

You are of course(deliberately?) missing the point. Parties like the BNP can put all sorts of stuff in their manifesto , but beyond a tiny minority of political gonks no one votes for them for anything other than their views on race. Similarly UKIP's support is not based on the electorates nuanced appreciation of their free market credentials but because of their stance on the eu and immigration.

Well, at least that is a much more valid point than claiming that all the UKIP candidates and their followers are racist.

Post 51, where you said "but anyone proposing the nationalisation of utilities AND protectionist trade tariffs gets my vote"

Am I missing something.................?

I think so. He was talking about the 'weirdo' who votes for BNP despite their racism and intolerance because they have protectionist policies and promise to re-nationalise everything.

I disagree, I think many people vote for parties like the BNP because they feel the main 2 parties either ignore them and/or treat their views with contempt. You know, like how the life long labour voting working class woman from Rochdale was treated by Gordon Brown for having the gall to discuss immigration.

The BNP had albeit shortlived local election victories in Burnley and Stoke as well as nearly polling 1m votes in the last European elections. I guess on your analysis when they were returning Labour councillors they were all part of the stout backbone of working class solidarity, yet as soon as they had the temerity to vote BNP they are all swivel eyed fruitcakes and racist lickspittles?

It is this kind of supercilious attitude that turns people from politics completely or into the hands of parties like UKIP.

Ah, got it.

Its still a pretty tragic indictment of the political choice the electorate has these days though, in that the only parties advocating (say) for the re-nationalisation of institutions like the Royal Mail are largely irrelevant and on the political fringes (or weirdos).

If you support UKIP you are a bit thick and easily duped.

Donna Edmunds is barking. I had a spat with her on Twitter, after she claimed that all housing officers working for the council are staunch socialists. She seemed to think that complaining about her comments was a sign of being "right wing". There's a very muddled-up mind at work somewhere in there.

- Dismantle the NHS
- Scrap the Human Rights Act
- Increase military spending by 40%
- Double the amount of prisons, and punish instead of rehabilitate
- Benefits all but scrapped
- More nuclear power plants, stop investing in renewable energy
- Cut state spending to 1997 levels costing 2 million jobs.

Anyone who believes that elements of these policies are bad for society is thick and deluded.

Corrected for you.

If you showed that to members of the general public the majority would think it is from the Conservative party election manifesto.
