Sorry but some background is required for this; another wonderful Powell & Pressburger film.

Survivors of a sunk U-Boat are trying to get out of Canada & into (at the time neutral) USA.

They come across a Canadian/German settlement who take them in and the U-Boat Commander being a Nazi lectures them on what they are and what they should do,

Anton Walbrook responds, I can never watch this without tears. Soft ******* that I am.

Brilliant Film, probably the closest in feel to Greene's Book, The Quiet American comes close, our very own Brighton Rock not really. All well worth a watch.

Agreed, the cast, the black and white photography and that haunting soundtrack.
Carol Reed really knocked it out of the park when he made this film.

The whole intensity of that scene and the speech, if you know the backstory, is off the charts.

I know its "only" Star Trek, but Sir Patrick is a superb actor and this scene/speech shows what he can do.
