You wouldn't be writing that if we'd inexplicably pooped the bed.

Doing this after 18 minutes, resulting in a goal, removed all of the pressure that the Fulham ref was weighed down by.

Attwell s a terrible ref who had a good, albeit easy, game. Did give us two very questionable advantages in the first half, gave nowhere near enough first half injury time and was generally a !little bit of a homer but not much else to do.

I have to say although there's clearly a bit of bias based on the result, Atwell was leagues above that incompetent fool England (who should not officiate at this level).

Atwell had control of the game, correctly booked their player for diving in the box and there was a period in the 2nd half where West Ham were getting frustrated and a few overly aggressive tackles flew in, after the appropriate yellow cards were handed out they simmered down. Contrast that to England who could have booked about 5 Fulham players for timewasting, didn't, and as a result lost control completely.

Loved that clip, except for the part where he said “contract’s up at the end of the season, Veltman.”

The game was pretty easy for him because West Ham most of the game were literally chasing shadows.

I don’t remember any howlers we’ve had from him in the past but then again my memory with referees gets all jumbled with all the absolute junk we’ve had.

Personally I think the quality of referee problem is more in the training, it’s no coincidence that time wasting and blatant cheating is allowed to go unpunished because referees are hamstrung by rules, make it easy for them and stop the clock and introduce a sin bin for simulation/shouting in referees faces, make the rules clear with no room for human judgement and that will eradicate a lot of the problem, a lot of the bad decisions I think are due to the pressure that’s put on referees by players.

I wonder what the hammers fan thought of the ref?

I can’t remember being annoyed even once with any decisions. First time this year perhaps.

Maybe West Ham had a time wasting plan for the 2nd half but obviously when they were behind, time wasting is not a good option and ref was never required to challenge them on it.

The difference being the ref had little to do. 1:0 so no obvious time wasting from West Ham. Also playing a good team and manager, cant see Moyes telling his team to 'fall down holding your head'. So two decent fair teams playing football who don't cheat (a lot).
Incidently, has someone had a quiet word in Mitomas' ear? Went down in the box but this time didn't scream for a card.

Only three minutes in the first half was baffling considering the stoppages

With 3 goals and about 5 subs was more surprised with only 3 mins at end of game. I know stopping clock has been mentioned but surely this should happen when goals scored . and than it does not matter length of celebrations
